Nothing is hidden about US Covid-19 difficulties from overcrowded ERs, morgues, refrigerated body trailers, to economic hardships and social disturbances.

The objective of vaccination (from a public-health administration standpoint) at this point isn't to prevent contraction of disease, but to prevent hospitalization.

You will get sick regardless of the shot, but the shot keeps you away from the hospital. It will still suck for you, and it will be the worst time of your life, but you'll survive.

I'm also hearing that "at least 1 shot for everyone, 2nd shot later" is being considered as a course of action.

I agree, and apart from preventing deaths and straining the hospital system, a vaccination blitzkrieg would be required to not give the opportunity to the virus to :
1) let the virus find out new ways to infect those already vaccinated and holding off.
2) Linger around long enough in enough of the population to achieve point1.
