Many are saying that Umrika did a right thing. People should know that without the supply of 37 critical raw materials by US our vaccine production lines will come to a halt within a month. Embargo on vaccine export will not help us once our production stops.

We have started making many of the raw materials ourself now and sourcing them from other places in market.
The cry about raw material from US is actually for other money making drugs by SII. Adar Poonawala is desperate for profits and trying to create fake panic in market.

There were so many small nations where the corona spread was already controlled and there was no need for this samaj seva.
concern wasn't if their citizens would drop dead on streets a-la-cheenese, but a senseless race with cheeenese to pee and mark 'our' territory.... and now? beg/borrow/steal from anyone who makes any kinda 'certified' vax and also lets check with bangladesh for remsdevir ....

With around 2.7 lakh new Covid-19 cases, India's total caseload crossed 1.5 crore on Monday. With the highest one-day surge so far, India has now surpassed US in terms of cumulative cases.

Healthcare system across the country is overwhelmed with growing cases of Covid-19. With shortage of hospital beds, oxygen and medicines, the health infrastructure is on the verge of getting collapsed.

Witnessing the situation on the ground, many renowned medical practitioners have given some handy advise on how to deal with Covid while you are at home.

Dr Zain Chagla, an expert in infectious diseases and one of the renowned medical practitioners, also shared some tips on Twitter on how to deal with Covid-19 at home as several states have reported shortage of hospital beds and oxygen.

Lt. Gen (Dr) Ved Chaturvedi, Advisor, Department of Rheumatology, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital told India Today, "For the last one week, lots of patients have been coming to us for beds but unfortunately there are no beds, everything is occupied. So, I suggest home hospitalisation is an answer in case of non-availability of Covid beds in hospitals. If a patient has mild symptoms, then the person should stay at home. If you have tested positive, keep a constant track of your oxygen level for that you need to have a pulse oxymeter at home."

"If oxygen saturation goes below 94, start practicing sleeping on your stomach, that will expand the lung. Practice it thrice for 2 hours, oxygen levels will get better. If that doesn't help, get an Oxygen cylinder at home or an oxygen concentrator. For severe patients of course, a CT scan is a must. If results come out to be moderate, then stay at home and consult a doctor in your locality for medicines. Hundreds of doctors are doing teleconsultation. Hospitals will also give you the same medicines and only difference is that we will give it to you through an IV, while you can take it as a medicine on your own at home. I think people should really consider home hospitalisation. A house is as good as a hospital bed for patients with mild and moderate symptoms," Dr Chaturvedi said.

Dr Vikramjeet Singh, senior consultant of Dept of Internal Medicine, Aakash Healthcare, told India Today, "we have categorised patients into three category - mild, moderate and severe. Patients with mild symptoms don't need hospital bed at all. Person should isolate at home. Even those who have moderate symptoms should stay at home and do tele-consultation with doctors to take the right medication. And keep an oxygen cylinder or a concentrator in case at all times, if oxygen saturation drops."

"Only patients with severe symptoms should be in a hospital, rest of the patients can be very well managed at home. People should not panic after contracting the virus. Lot of patients are taking up the beds because they are very scared to deal with it in isolation, even when it can be dealt with at home," Dr Singh said.

They will pull all dirty tricks to stop vaccine production in India and elsewhere. They will first vaccinate their citizens and then force other countries to directly import expensive vaccines from them. Thats how they will dominate the market. Meanwhile we will be struggling for APIs while handling a large covid wave.

Same America will declare poor India insufficient to handle covid and will push proaganda to imoprt life saving vaccines from noble Biden.

Citizens of small countries where we have previously sent vaccines on our expance will watch western propaganda and criticize India. They will happily pay lots of money for expensive American vaccine and sing praises of Biden's leadership.

In a pack of lions, Alpha male always eats first and leftovers are given to others only when Alpha is full. This is why Alpha is the strongest and how Alpha dominates.

You don't become a superpower by being "Nice"

If you think about it what they did is smart. First take care of yourself and then help others.

We exported almost half of our vaccines to ungrateful nations who will forget our kindness the moment this pandemic is over. Maybe we too need to be a little more selfish.
This is big blunder done by govt. Instead of meeting domestic one , it started exporting. Now see those countries got vaccine will never be great full. Hope may situation doesn't arise when India need to import vaccine. Smagh main nahin ata hum amerika jaisa sochna kab shuru karenge.

Hum humesha help karne kyon chale jate hai. Joota bhi hume hi padta hai.

There was a wattsapp hate group by docs of certain hospital in mumbai against covaxin whn it got approaved . And Then covashield is not our vaccine . SII has some requirement to fulfill .

Ek Baar Modiji ji ko Nobel peace medal mil jaye fir , Umreeka ki tarah sochna shuru kar denge.

However we will not need to import any vaccine. Third vaccine is already approved and Dr Reddy is ready to make 250 Million doses of Sputnik for home use. Ironically Sputnik has more efficacy than both CovieShield and Covaxin.

Sputnik has published results of their Indian bridging trials? I think the Indian variant in circulation will bring down efficacy numbers for everyone, including the mRNA based Pfizer, had they chosen to do bridging trials here. Their stock would have taken a royal beating, and thats all the Muricans care about.

No idea if they had Indian trials or not but the news were telling phase 3 trials were approved in India and Dr Reddy lab conducted it and then only Govt approved their vaccine in India.

Don't underestimate Pfizer, no matter how much opportunistic and profit minded US companies are, they are also the best in this line in whole world.

The CFO of the firm I worked in while in the US is a native of my city. While on a recent visit, he had been administered both doses, yet got hit by COVID hard at the beginning of March, requiring hospitalization and O2. Thankfully, there were was no rush back in early march and he could get the best of care. Both him and his wife were hit by COVID. And yes, their tests were negative when they started off, but between landing and their arrival to their hometown, they developed symptoms and unfortunately for one of them they got worse. I suspect the odds of getting severe covid in India are only slightly better with mRNA based vaccines.

Yes.. most of the hype by Adar poonawala, is about procuring materials for novovax.. the other vaccine he has contracted to produce. But he still needs raw materials from US for covishield.. Also, vaccine production lines in EU too would stop if US stopped raw material shipments.. Even today.. US is continuing to supply raw material shipments to Europe..

Israeli official: Pfizer vaccine has some efficacy against Indian variant
One of the worries with the emergence of new coronavirus variants is how vaccines will fare against them. Reuters has this quick note from Dan Williams on events in Israel.

Israel has registered eight cases of a coronavirus variant first identified in India, and believes that the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine is at least partially effective against it, an Israeli health official said this morning.

An initial seven cases of the Indian variant were detected in Israel last week among people arriving from abroad and who have since undergone preliminary testing, the health ministry said.

“The impression is that the Pfizer vaccine has efficacy against it, albeit a reduced efficacy,” the ministry’s director general, Hezi Levy, told Kan public radio, saying the number of cases of the variant in Israel now stood at eight.
