Even in COVID19, IMO, vaccine is not to be seen in near future. There are a few reasons:SARS didn't have such a long lasting impact so Medical Society didn't put much effort in research for it's vaccine.
1) most of the vaccines being trialed are showing a deadly side effect called 'cytokine burst'. This can lead to respiratory attack and then death. Overcoming this has been the challenge in making the vaccine for any virus from corona family.
2) vaccine effect is not 100% guaranteed in Flus.
3) It takes time for body to develop antibodies, in case of some vaccines.
The world is not giving enough consideration to the fact that Spanish fl came in three waves. What is there is a second wave of COVID19? It will be death of world economy and healthcare systems, if we can't manage the disease by then.
