Sarvesh carries his nine-month-old daughter on shoulder, with wife tagging along.
They were turned back from Delhi border with Sonipat. They now walk in the opposite direction, hoping to somehow reach their home in Hardoi, UP.
“
Do you have anything to eat?”
“Nothing, Sir!”
I wonder why no one in New Delhi or in any state has thought of putting a few mobile squads on job who can spot groups of migrant labourers and guide them in best possible way. Let me give examples:
A group of labourers from Bahadurgarh, Haryana. Dropped by a truck near Delhi Cantt. Spend night there, some got beaten up and shooed away by cops. Their destination: Purnea, Bihar. None of them have any idea about train/bus. If, say,
@ArvindKejriwal had a mobile team to assist?
These people have very little food with them. Sample:
This is Jaikaran and family at 6 am this morning near Vasant Kunj. They have been asked by Delhi government to reach Khanpur, a distance of 12 kms, for a transport to their hometown Hardoi, UP. “We left at dawn because we have small children and they will take time to walk”.
This is a family on Delhi-Gurugram border at 5 am. They started walking towards Jhansi, UP, a distance of 450 kms. They are absolutely clueless about the possibility of a train or a bus.
I must appreciate rahul pandita for covering the migrant crisis without hidden agenda.
I guess,Being a migrant himself(he is a kp) gives some perspective towards the crisis.
