Seven States Oppose Govt Plan to Send Migrant Workers by Bus as Impractical, Say Process Could Take Months

Now that Modi has allowed the movement of migrant workers, it has very badly exposed some Naysayers and Randirona who tll yesterday were trying on Delhi Meerut Roads with their round bodies and big screwed up bumps shouting " They will walk 200 km ,,,, and there is no Mai-Baap for them.."

It was a big issue for the writers to Newyork Times till yesterday and BBC threw Corona scare into the wind to depict India "Pathetic" scenes.... thrown out junk like Burqa Dutt were suddenly in use... Ravish Kumar was ravishing with relish on his RnDTV. Pappu became a journalist. Banished and runaway economic experts like MMS and Raghu dada suddenly became relevant...

Now that states have been allowed to move migrant workers ..... "Sabko Saanp Soongh Gaya Hai"... they can see a political loss in front of them.... Nitish is trying to be real but he also knows that he is facing a nightmare...

Likes of Burqa Dutts are missing .... she has lost some height from her shrunk stature... Mullahs have taken refuge with their past masters in the land of Arabia...

Finally some news from iron curtain,

Still not looking good

BREAKING: #Bengal govt reveals 105 #Covid positive patients have died in the state However, govt says the official #Covid19 death toll is 33, because remaining 72 deaths are being attributed to comorbidity (pre existing diseases) by its Audit Committee

If 105 are dead, then either Bengal has the highest death rate with only 700 odd cases or Bengal is simply not remotely accurate with their data. Who knows how many deaths have never made it to the government's notice, the Odisha experience of migrants returning from Bengal suggests community transmission.

Recovery rate 25.64%.
Increasing by a margin of 0.30٪ everyday.
I don't get this bit, recoveries mirrors the infections with a time lag. Useless statistic until we see a prolonged dip in actual numbers of infections.

What Bengal is doing?? Hiding real data. That's true

But now what Central Govt is doing. Is also not understandable at all.

Today Central Govt published a list of all districts in red, orange & green zones.

Its stating three districts in North Bengal is in red zone which state Govt don't agree. And why wouldn't they argue about it? Among those three districts Central Govt themselves declared a week earlier that there are no cases since the last 14 days (and the other one at 10 days at that time being). Now no new cases are disovered in these three districts then why should they be in the red zone?? Its not like that they are in the buffer zones where red zones or hotspots are!!

Low-cost interventions help India fight the coronavirus

By Debarshi Dasgupta

NEW DELHI - A neurosurgeon at a top government hospital in Delhi, Dr Deepak Agrawal would often see families struggle to meet the steep expenses involved in maintaining chronic patients on ventilator support.

It was with them in mind that he and his business partner, robotics scientist Diwakar Vaish, came up with a cost-effective solution in 2017 - a toaster-sized ventilator that is priced at less than a fourth of conventional ventilators and one that families could take home and even operate themselves.

In a country that is estimated to have around 48,000 ventilators, it is this low-cost product from AgVa Healthcare that is now helping meet the surge in demand for ventilators to support Covid-19 patients with breathing difficulties.

About 1,000 units are operational in the market and production has been augmented from 100 units a month in 2019 to 500 a day now with manufacturing support from Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's leading automobile manufacturer.

"We plan to ramp this up to 1,000 per day by May 10," said Dr Agrawal, a co-founder of AgVa Healthcare, which has been swamped with orders since March.

"The only reason we could have this humongous increase in scale is because of several innovations and indigenisation of technologies that ensured we were not copying other ventilator makers and competing for the same components that are now in short supply globally," he told The Straits Times on Tuesday (April 28).

Key measures that have helped reduce costs include using disposable plastic valves that are manufactured by the firm locally and relying on cheaper but medical-grade sensors. The firm has also set up a factory in Shenzhen in China and expects to produce another 10,000 units per month there in another fortnight or so.

The ventilator is currently priced at around $2,821 and has generated interest from the United States, Europe, Africa and even South-east Asian countries such as Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.

"We will begin exporting once we are more comfortably placed as far as our resources are concerned and have met domestic demand," Dr Agrawal said.

AgVa Healthcare is one of the many Indian entities that are stepping up to the challenge of better managing the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as hopefully eliminating the coronavirus, with home-grown and affordable interventions that may also have spillover benefits for the rest of the world once India begins to export these products.

Besides ventilators, they include testing kits, personal protective equipment, mobile ultraviolet disinfection units used to sanitise hospitals and online healthcare services, among others.

Another intervention that has generated interest is a Covid-19 test kit that is expected to bring down the cost of testing from 4,500 rupees (S$ 84.50) now to somewhere around 800 rupees.

Developed by a team of researchers from the Kusuma School of Biological Sciences at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, the kit has eliminated the use of fluorescent dye probes - commonly used in other testing kits - to keep costs low.

A standard "reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction" or RT-PCR test for Covid-19 - more reliable than cheaper and rapid antibody tests - uses fluorescent dye probes that help illuminate coronavirus samples.

The team at IIT Delhi has identified unique regions (short stretches of RNA sequences) in the coronavirus not present in other human coronaviruses. This enables the detection of Covid-19 cases with the help of a simpler technology that relies on a fluorescent dye manufactured in India instead of probes that have to be imported at a higher cost.

This is used along with a very specific set of primers that can detect and amplify only the novel coronavirus. Primers are short, synthesised fragments of nucleic acid that help amplify DNA of pathogens like viruses.

"With a pandemic headed our way and the need for carrying out hundreds of thousands of tests in a highly populated country like India, we realised we could not rely simply on imported and expensive testing kits," Professor Bishwajit Kundu, part of the team at IIT Delhi that developed the kit, told The Straits Times.

"We needed an affordable and indigenous testing kit for India that could also be exported to other countries."

The kit has been approved for use by the Indian Council of Medical Research and there are around 30 companies, including foreign ones, currently negotiating with the technology transfer team at IIT Delhi to acquire manufacturing rights.

Prof Kundu added they should soon be able to choose the first batch of firms who will begin mass production of the testing kits.

Dr Agrawal said India is best suited to become a hub for developing low-cost technologies and launching them.

"We have the market required to be able to make a product frugal as well as test it out," he said. "This ecosystem can help India become a successful launchpad for products that are not just cost-effective but also of good quality."

I don't know on what basis the central government has declared those red zones but its extremely likely that Bengal has a problem that might well be much larger than it appears. The Odisha experience is indicative of possible widespread transmission (I don't know the exact religious demographic of the Odisha returnees ) and with neighbouring states moving to seal borders, Bengal might well be on its way to be isolated from the rest of the country. Post May 3rd and further, any relaxation might not allow people from Bengal to travel if other states are worried about possible infection.

Those regions are basically Kolkata and the adjoining regions. We are too worried about it.

State govt tried to hide the jamat and the all others. But its not likely that for Central Govt to say one week a region to be green and then take completely U-turn on the next without any reported cases or violations of lockdown. I don't know what happened??!!

Lock down extended by 2 weeks, till 17th May....😱🤐😬😭😭
Details:

Coronavirus lockdown extended by two weeks beyond the 4th of May, all activity to resume in declared green zones: MHA

Amidst the Coronavirus pandemic, the central government had first announced a 21-day lockdown and then, extended the lockdown till the 3rd of May. Now, the Ministry of Home Affairs had declared that the lockdown will be extended for two weeks effective from the 4th of May 2020. However, while the lockdown has been extended in India, all activity will resume in the declared green zones.

Ministry of Home Affairs issues order under the Disaster Management Act, 2005 to further extend the Lockdown for a further period of two weeks beyond May 4

Press note issued by MHA announcing the lockdown being extended in India
Press note issued by MHA

The note said that the MHA has issued new guidelines to regulate different activities in this period, based on the risk profiling of the districts of the country into Red (hotspot), Green and Orange Zones. The green zones are ones with zero confirmed cases till date or no confirmed cases for the last 21 days.

The circular also said that the classification of districts as Red, Green and Orange zones will be reviewed every week by the Ministry of Health with the States and Union Territories, as required.

Most of the commercial and private establishments have been allowed in Red Zones. These include print and electronic media, IT and IT enabled services, data and call centres, cold storage and warehousing services, private security and facility management services etc.

Meanwhile in America...

"Hundreds of demonstrators — some of them heavily armed — crowded into Michigan’s state Capitol Thursday afternoon to protest against Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s shelter-at-home order.

The demonstration began outside the Capitol early in the day in heavy rain, but later in the afternoon, police allowed several hundred protesters — many not wearing masks — inside the building itself."

Apparently, in Michigan (USA) there are no laws against open carry of firearms. This is 100% legal. Scarier ?
Hell no..... 2nd amendment - the only thing that stands between freedom and complete subjugation. If good guys don't have weapons then only the bad guys will have them.
