Thats a jump of 1156 active. Same yesterday was (1409/980) compared to day before(1383/715) .

Modi understands the whole nation can't be in lockdown for months.

The lockdown would have to indefinite until a cure is found or until the last of the infected has been quarantined which you guessed is a very very difficult task considering muslims not following rules.

On one hand things get difficult for people to live without wages, on other hand we have to worry of increased infections. 1 thing is sure that if people start going hungry then they will take things in their own hands, so lockdown was never a solution. It was just buying time for capacity building just like people here saying.

I feel, corporates will still try work from home scenarios for most of its work force. Industries will start working.

Scientific know-how doesn’t seem to be a problem, mass manufacturing is for India, hence the need to import test kits, PPE etc. through emergency immediate purchases. There’s news everyday about some or the other innovation coming out from different parts, but things don’t seem to be up to the scale needed. Here China seems to be milking the COVID equipment cash cow with it’s ready infra and setup.

Scientific know how is an issue because most of them come up with half baked products which are made without taking in consideration the actual users in the beginning. Most of the new products are brought in front of actual users after they have been stamped as marketable product (which unfortunately is not the truth).

R&D takes time and if we want to just copy another product with some changes here and there than it becomes useless.
Take the example of Mahindra and Mahindra.They started a good PR campaign by advertising that they are going to manufacture so called ventilator which was nothing more than a umbo bag pumping machine.
Compare it with what TESLA made. We get the answers why Indians are more into trading than manufacturing
