Well,my personal opinion is that the reaction to the pandemic has been just as much about US-China superpower rivalry as to how dangerous the virus actually is.

China has four time the population of the US and was set to overtake the US nominal GDP by the end of the decade ,under their current course, and the country has been making rapid technological advances in Artificial Intelligence(AI), mobile phones, semiconductors and jet engines.

From the perspective of the leaders of the United States crashing globalism and resetting, retooling and restructuring the US economy, industry and military to deal with the threat of a rising China has a brutal logic to it.

So ,when this is all over , who will come out of this stronger and what will the world look like ?
PRC has a long way to go before it can catch up.The political and social systems need to mature in tandem as the country's economy grows and matures.Autoritarianism and Stalinist state capitalism cannot sustain high economic growth beyond couple of decades or so.State capitalism is inherently inefficient .No body is accountable. Its all smoke and mirrors as the underlings paint a rosy picture and only tell the top thugs what they want to hear.In the short term the western economies will sustain heavy damage as we face a worst recession since the 1930s.But they will bounce back.Worst fate is reserved for PRC as US and other western countries retreat from globalisation.
In 2019 the US GDP per capita(ranked 7) was estimated at US$65,000.
PRC ranked at 57 was US$10,400.
Let us see how long it takes PRC to achieve a per capita GDP of US$65,000 in light of retreat from globalisation and rigorous controls of intellectual property theft - two factors driving high PRC growth.
Beijing will no longer enjoy the luxury of Uncle Sam's generosity.
Covid-19 will come back to haunt Winnie The Poo and gang.

The reported death numbers are a joke as well. It must be 10 times of that number by now or maybe they are just counting the dead Punjabis. Rest of the porkies are just animals for their pak-fauj anyways.

Its says 54k tested and 6.5k positive. About 12% compared to about 4% for India.

Yesterday they have tested 10k and they have 2k new cases. That is 20%. Looking very very bad for them.
Pakistan is only reporting around 4600 cases, from where are you getting these numbers?

Any idea what's the current situation in warmer regions like Australia , Mid East or Africa

Despite the peacefools nonsense, India still has just about managed to stay out of an Italy like situation (the likes of Maharashtra aside)

While it can take just 2-3 weeks for that to happen we are also mere weeks away from 30+ temperatures
Which may hopefully help to some extent

China’s investigative journalists offer a fraught glimpse behind Beijing’s coronavirus propaganda

China has placed enormous pressure on foreign journalists during the novel coronavirus crisis. Bureaus have emptied as U.S. citizens have been forced out, while international travel restrictions have kept journalists from reentering the country.

But if Beijing’s intention was to limit scrutiny of its coronavirus response, it has only partially succeeded. Some of the most damning reporting on the pandemic has come from Chinese organizations, which are taking great risks in one of the world’s most restrictive media environments.

“The truth is that the Chinese Communist Party leadership regards any reporting of the facts as ultimately a threat to the stability of the regime,” said David Bandurski, co-director of the China Media Project.

Officially, the death toll in Wuhan has stalled at a little over 2,500, a detail repeatedly highlighted by China’s Foreign Ministry. But something didn’t add up, Caixin noted: One local crematorium in the city was operating for 19 hours a day and in just two days, 5,000 urns were delivered to the establishment.

Foreign media outlets, including The Washington Post and many others, picked up on the details. Radio Free Asia, a publication funded by the U.S. government, extrapolated further, suggesting that as many as 42,000 could have died in the city.

Demonetization has been an outright success. So please dude cut back on your BS. There are other here who can read research papers too............
No I don't think so . Before demonetization Indian economy was growing at 9 percent in the Last quarter before demonetization. Now the growth is barely half that rate even 3 and a half years after demonetization. It seems demonetization has knocked out India's economic growth rate for years to come.

That was before coronavirus. Now with coronavirus striking one wonders what will happen. The parallel economy used to give us some shield from global economic downturns before demonetization. It was India's own private economy not connected with global economy. Now that notebandi has completely destroyed it we might get fully exposed to global recession without any shield from it . Might make it bad for us . This inspite of our mortality rate being lower than other countries.

In India what is the Ratio between Hindus and Muslims infected by Corona
There are no confirmed stats as such but speculation is at 80:20 . It will increase. Just seeing the news on India TV that some 103 jamati's were holed up in Chand mahal masjin in old delhi....52 are positive with few foreigners involved....so i expet addition of another 1000 today ....and few more... old delhi is a hell of a congested area dominated by Muslim population.. and since these morons have not stopped going to masjids....whole area is under threat now... few lakhs easily IMO...

Is an American behind this crisis ? Great work wion...

Wion has done a really great job exposing China to the world.
They are also getting lots of foreign viewership.
I want more such news channel, they should consider Lunching subsidiaries in France, Britain, Germany and Russia.

Our doordarshan has been left behind in the fray people dont tune to them even on Republic day.
