They need to sort out last mile connectivity fast in my opinion. Police is behaving like morons everywhere and not allowing anything anywhere, either Orders are not clear or they are deliberately behaving like usual self...

in my area, except for veggies, nothing is coming. Dry rations like dals etc have vanished off shelfs and getting Rice / flour is a big problem...

In our area too. This week is hard at it is. I don't know what is going to happen next week if it extends until this month's end.

I can see some are complaining about cigarettes or . To those I say wo sab to chor hi do bhai humlog ke yehaa pe hajmola tak mila nahi raha

HCQ shortage was due to panic buying by the people.

There are number DMRDs available to replace HCQ.

No one will die without HCQ suffering from RA.

A known Modi baiter first made this argument on Twitter and cried about its shortage. Some another guy bought the medicine online and slapped him back.

Having said that if government is saying that the production can be ramped up to meet the global and domestic demand then Rheumatologists can make different arrangements in the mean time. Management of prescriptions for long term condition also means that Patients will have medicine for few weeks if not months.

People asking for scientific studies and peer review double blind fold studies or large sample size shoulder know that the epidemic is just few months old. Also there is no guarantee that a working vaccine will be made.

I have always said that this drug may or may not be working. Also gave my reservation on its role curbing immune over reaction but put my money on its virustatic role. Same with BCG vaccination argument. But at this stage one can not stop clinicians experimenting.

There is a long history of accidental finding of cure for certain diseases. Penicillin, warfarin I can name few.

Anyone who has worked in ICU will know empiric therapy especially broad spectrum antibiotics before test results come back.

I can list many instances were educated guesses are made and working diagnosis are covered before establishing more evidence base course of treatment.

Thank goodness my doc didn't prescribed HCQ, otherwise I would have been running from pillars to posts. On a serious note, I have not seen any issues with regards to medicines availability.

I and many others tried to reason with him,but he never listened to reason. But He continued with his pro china(anti Indian) agendas to suppress other member posts.

Dude, nobody is batting for HCQ like Trump.


Even ICMR guidelines is not enforcing its use. The instructions we have got is that we "may" Take it if we want. They haven't even said it is mandatary for us(medicos) to take- meaning even ICMR is cautious in its approach.

And you trust the experts for their advice, not politicians and bureaucrats. So far the hoarding of HCQs is by the advice of bureaucrats and politicians, how many actual scientists on this matter have actually endorsed this drug? Absolutely no one. That's why all media reports from good sources always add the disclaimer - "scientists are skeptical and that HCQ is unproven"

BTW, if HCQs are supposedly useful for preventing acute immune overaction in lungs during corona disease rather than fight the actual disease, there are far better far more specific and effective drugs for that - corticosteroids, which are routinely used in ICUs in the treatment of pulmonary insufficiency. So no, until a proper scientific study comes confirming the effectiveness of the HCQ I will not recommend it, just based on the whims of a morons like Trump.

Hell, I won't even give it to my family members if they get infected with corona. I don't think I can be anymore blunt than that

I want to add to this post, consuming HCQ without doctor's advice do have bad consequences.

This map is showing wrong. Our district Darjeeling hasn't got any cases (except for one which is under scrutiny). Its the adjacent district Kalimpong where the cases were confirmed. Yes they were brought here and hospitalized here.
