Update: March 30, 2020 9:30 am ET: A report from XDA Developers states that Google has cut YouTube streaming quality down to 480p in parts of India. Unlike other parts of the world, users in India reportedly cannot switch manually to higher video streaming resolutions on YouTube.
Original story: March 24, 2020 12:20 pm ET: Out of concern for keeping the rising internet traffic clear of congestion during the coronavirus outbreak, Google is making some changes to YouTube. Starting today, the video streaming service will cut the streaming quality default down to standard definition (480p) resolution for at least a month.

Bloomberg reports that, according to a company spokesperson, Google has seen high traffic on YouTube throughout the day since the coronavirus crisis began, rather than just traffic spikes in the evening. This is, of course, due to the fact that many people are either working from home or are simply stuck inside due to government requests to keep them at home. YouTube previously said it would cut down on its video streaming quality to Europe, along with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney Plus. Now it’s going into effect for everybody.
Google says that it doesn’t believe that the world is in danger of truly breaking the internet with an increase in the use of streaming services like YouTube. However, it made the decision to set the default setting back to SD resolution out of both caution as well as some concerns from government officials.

MORE DOOM: The meteor seems to have stuck as expected near Akure town, Ondo state of Nigeria on Saturday.
On March 28 morning, a massive explosion rocked a suburb of the city of Akure, the capital of the southern Nigerian State of Ondo.
According to Nigerian sources, the explosion split Akure-Owo road and inflicted serious damage on dozens of houses, 50 to 100, as well as a school and churches.
A circular impact crater with 21m diameter and 7.8m depth was found which suggest a natural phenomenon.
Water was found oozing out from the edges of the crater. A preliminary in situ vibration, noise, seismicity, water analysis, radioactivity studies, rock and soil investigation were carried out.

Coronavirus in India: How Delhi Police and government inaction led thousands to spread Covid-19
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on March 21, informed the state governments about 824 foreign nationals who visited Markaz Nizamuddin in Delhi and then in several states for preaching tours or 'Chilla' but the Delhi Government and the Delhi Police took no effort to stop the entry of any person or vacate the premises.

Atimely action by the Delhi Police, the Delhi government and the Centre could have prevented thousands associated with the Tablighi Jamaat from spreading coronavirus in the country who are now being hunted by various state law enforcement agencies.
The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on March 21, informed the state governments about 824 foreign nationals who visited Markaz Nizamuddin in Delhi and then in several states for preaching tours or 'Chilla' but the Delhi Government and the Delhi Police took no effort to stop the entry of any person or vacate the premises.
Foreign nationals, particularly from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Nepal, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Kyrgyzstan, visited Markaz Nizamuddin for Tablighi activities and stayed at Banglewali Mosque at Hazrat Nizamuddin in New Delhi. Later, they travelled to different parts of the country for 'Chilla' activities.
On March 21, according to the home ministry, about 1,746 persons were staying at Hazrat Nizamuddin Markaz. Out of the 1,746, 216 were foreigners and 1,530 Indians.
About 824 foreigners were, as on March 21, doing preaching activities in various parts of the country. Also, a large number of Indian Tablighi Jamaat workers were also engaged in 'Chilla' activities in different parts of the country.
The home ministry has claimed that details of these 824 foreigners was shared on March 21 with the Delhi Police for identifying them, getting them medically screened and quarantining them. However, a case against Maulana Saad and others of Tablighi Jamaat by the Crime Branch of the Delhi Police was lodged only after 10 days.
The case has been filed under Section 3 of Epidemic Disease Act and Sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for violating the government directions given to the management of Markaz of Basti Nizamuddin regarding restriction of social, political, religious gathering and for taking safety measures, including social distancing for prevention and treatment of the Covid-19 viral infection.
The Markaz authorities have claimed that they informed the Delhi police and Delhi government about the details of the people staying inside their premises however, "no timely response was received".
"We informed the Delhi Police and SDM on March 23 about the number of people inside the premises. We even asked for vehicles so that they can be sent to their respective places but nothing was done," Mohammed Ashraf, Tablighi Jamaat, Markaz spokesperson said.
Till Tuesday, 1,203 Tablighi Jamaat workers were medically screened. Out of which, 303 have symptoms of Covid-19 and have been referred to different hospitals in Delhi. Rest of them have been moved to different quarantine centres at Narela, Bakkarwala and Sultanpuri.
The ministry on March 28 advised the state police to collect the names of the Indian Tablighi Jamaat workers from the local coordinators, locate them on the ground, get them medically screened and quarantine them. So far, about 2,137 such persons have been identified in different states.
The same day, the MHA also issued a detailed advisory to the chief secretaries and DGPs of all states, as well as CP Delhi, on this issue. The next day, state DGPs were advised by the DIB to trace the movement of all such Tablighi workers in their area, ascertain the people coming in their contacts and take steps for their medical screening.
It is estimated that from January 1 onwards this year, approximately 2,100 foreigners had visited India for Tablighi activities. While approximately 824 of them, as on March 21, dispersed in different parts of the country, approximately 216 of them were staying at the Nizamuddin Markaz.
Foreign Tablighi Jamaat workers have mostly been located in Uttar Pradesh (132) followed by Tamil Nadu (124), Maharashtra (115) and Haryana (115). There are a total of 93 positive cases who attended the gathering of Markaz Nizamuddin in Delhi. While 45 are in Tamil Nadu, 9 have been located in Andaman, 15 in Telangana and 24 in Delhi.

We could have acted sooner in blocking Chinese travellers to Philippines as early as mid-January when the breakout was unfolding in China. But our traitor President Duterte, who is a China poodle, did not want to anger China so it did not close our border to Chinks until February. By then it was already too late. Thousands of Chinks fleeing their cursed pand already arrived in Manila. Now Manila is the epicenter of the pandemic in our country and so far all confirmed cases in our city came from Manila.
