Is the Indian COVID-19 strain weaker?

My US based friend,a scientist Ramesh Swamy informs me that a US researcher has found: “the #COVID19 strain in Indi… https://t.co/OuzSukFEnW

After this a lot of people questioned the authenticity of the tweet and also trolled him for the same. In response to the trolls, many people tweeted the link to the report which is a ‘Comparative analyses of SAR-CoV2 genomes from different geographical locations’.
Link to the report:

https://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.03.21.001586v1.full.pdf

Disclaimer: The below given findings are from a preliminary report which has not been peer-reviewed. These abstracts are directly taken from the report.

The ongoing pandemic of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2).
Various researchers from Translational Bioinformatics Group, International Center for Genetic Engineering & Biotechnology (ICGEB) and Department of Biochemistry, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi, performed an integrated sequence-based analysis of SARS-CoV2 (2019 virus) genomes from different geographical locations in order to identify its unique features absent in SARS-CoV (2003 virus) and other related coronavirus family genomes, conferring unique infection, facilitation of transmission, virulence and immunogenic features to the virus.

Systematic gene level mutational analysis of the genomes has enabled the researchers to identify several unique features of the SARS-CoV2 genome, which includes a unique mutation in the spike surface glycoprotein in the Indian SARS-CoV2, absent in other strains studied there.

They collected SARS-CoV2 genomes from different geographical origins mainly from India, Italy, USA, Nepal and Wuhan. To understand the variations that are occurring with the geographical area the researchers analyzed Indian, Italian, USA, Nepal SARS-CoV2 genomes (query genomes) compared with Wuhan SARS-CoV2 genome. It was observed that all the genomes shares ~99% similarity with Wuhan (SARS-CoV2) genome. However, interestingly we also observed that each genome has unique mutations- except the genome from Nepal which shares 100% similarity with the Wuhan genome.

To gain further insights into host responses to viral infection, they predict that antiviral host-miRNAs (microRNA) may be controlling the viral pathogenesis. The analysis reveals nine host miRNAs which can potentially target SARS-CoV2 genes. Interestingly, the nine miRNAs do not have targets in SARS and MERS genomes. Also, hsa-miR-27b is the only unique miRNA which has a target gene in the Indian SARS-CoV2 genome.

In conclusion, we can’t make a firm claim whether the Indian COVID-19 strain is weaker or not. Only further research and deep studies can complement the several experiments going on around the world, to study COVID-19.

This made my day,
Wait till you read this,

Coronavirus: 65-year-old woman, who had tested positive of COVID-19, dies in Ujjain, had attended anti-CAA protests

Hailing from a poor family, Rabia had no significant travel history accept that she had participated in an ongoing sit-in organised by Muslim woman in protest against the CAA in Ujjain.

Momentum must be kept on - we should not lift foot from accelerator.

It all started with Cardiac Stents.

Now entering into VENTILATORS,

Must carry on to its final culmination - CT Scans, MRI, Ultrasonic machines, Color Doppler Machines.

Along with all critical components.

China has forced the World to end GLOBLISATION, and in short run look for another RELIABLE SUPPLIER.

Once in a CENTURY, opportunity for INDIA.
once we have enough..we can also look into other nations..
have to shut out the chinese ploy of capiltalizing on the china virus business..
the shamless chinese didnt even upload the whole genome sequence for the world to research..
plus

The team of doctors from Shanghai knew this was deadly back in December...and they startted locking down Shanghai early january..like in first week.

the chinese clearly lied to the world.to benefit from the pandemic.
and I dont think the chinese infecting others is just a random event..but the chinese would be acting on instructions.

Patna’s Hanuman Mandir trust donates Rs 1 crore to CM’s relief fund to fight Wuhan Coronavirus

https://www.opindia.com/2020/03/pat...an-coronavirus/amp/?__twitter_impression=true

Meanwhile The Mosque right beside it has a history of aiding jihad.
Meanwhile in Kerala, Jihaad madarasa donated grenades and suicide wastes to fight against kuffers.
I think it’s also going to grow,
Probably more slowly with the lockdown but grow nevertheless.
Yes. Aim is to not let the virus overwhelm the immune system of body and community.
Limit the exposure to minimum levels and let the body tackle it.
It’s impossible to limit the spread at this point.
Immunity will develop overtime.

I am not a medical professional but what I understand is there are different type of ventilators.
Few of them are for trauma/ brain injury patients, who can do with ambient air (20-21% oxygen). The ventilator developed by AIIMS professor is of this category.

Other ventilators supply enriched (>21%) oxygen. This type of ventilators are required for current cases. They are also heavy duty.

But, procuring the first type of ventilator will free the second type of ventilator for pulmonary patients.

Members with domain knowledge can add or correct the above information.

I really hope we get some kind of a grip on this, fingers firmly crossed. The numbers of ventilators being used as a percentage of those available is very high simply because of the size of the population. The numbers we will be able to free up will be very low. I doubt we will be able to ramp up quickly if the numbers mount dramatically.

Coronavirus: Five Tons of Chloroquine Sent to Greece from India

https://greece.greekreporter.com/20...ons-of-chloroquine-sent-to-greece-from-india/

:india:
meaning..we have more than adequate for the entire scenario..
Yup, our strength is bulk production. API’s are the problem in some cases these days.

I used to have a colleague whose previous profession was related to pharma(around pre-2000’s), those days API used to be exchanged at airports. My guy would go with suitcase full of cash, other guy would land at a particular airport, and exchange used to be done at airport. Full filmy. 1 kg API would cost 25-50 lakh a depending on the drug, at that time.

Sahi kaha Bhai.

Brits, pissfuls, commies, prestitutes, no one is able to digest the fact that this so called poor dirty country under 'Fascist Mudi' has the lowest per capita infection rate anywhere in the world.

How they wish India was suffering a collapse like China, but alas, their wishes are NOT going to come true :india2:
