The 6% in absolute terms will be more than 23% of Italy. Rates may be different but in absolute count India will be in a worse position than Italy if the virus spreads unhindered.I'm not saying that young,otherwise healthy people are immune or that the virus might mutate into a strain deadlier to the young Still, all indications ,at the present moment, are that this disease overwhelmingly affects old people.

For a little perspective the average male life expectancy in Italy is 82 year, the 7th highest in the world and about the same as Japan's. The male life expectancy in India is 68.
The average life expectancy in Italy is 83 , the median age is 45 and 23% of the population is aged over 65 years.
For comparison ,India has a much younger population profile .
In India the average life expectancy is 69. the median age is 28 and 6% of the population is aged over 65 years.

For this reason ,even if Coronavirus becomes pandemic in India ,the country might be spared the sort of fatality rates as we are seeing in Italy.
