In Indian Armed forces, the honour of showing your stars/strips is reserved for the parents. They are the first ones to salute you first for becoming an Officer. Passing out ceremony has us wearing our strips/stars covered. Once we complete the Oath Taking, We toss our caps/Berets and than parents remove the cover from our stars/strips.
