Will India vote with Sri Lanka or at least abstain from voting in 2014 UNHR resolution against Sri Lanka in the backdrop of the "Devyani incident"?

More than Devyani Incident, you should have said in the backdrop of 'Seaman Guard Ohio' incident as one of the reason being speculated is it was in contact with Tamil Tigers ( or any group of it's like).

So what would these incidents means to Indo-Lanka relationship?

Will India take anti-US stance in UNHR this year?

Can't say anything discounting China.

This incident doesn't mean we have become antiUSA .

Stance at UNHR will be depend upon India-Sri Lanka relations and the impact of this individual incidents will not have a profound effect.

Sri Lanka's ever-increasing coziness in its dalliance with China is the over-arching reason for us to consider Sri Lanka as an unfriendly nation; as it has been consistently since late early 60's. Sri Lanka's only known friends are Pak & China. One is a beggar, beneath contempt & ridicule, while the other is an arch-enemy hellbent upon containing us at all levels. Do you still believe than India would ever be friends with Lanka ?

Anyway, had it not been for your Pro-US tilt in the 70's, India would have never spawned Tamil insurgency in you country (which was a completely flawed move, IMHO). But given the way things have been between us, consider Sri Lanka's fate to be relegated as a pawn between two geopolitical giants in the region a la Cuba. Sri Lanka would receive occasional freebies from China & India (to extract concessions etc.) but that's about it.

In the long term, Sri Lanka is a potential concern & a suspicious character. Our interests in the region do not converge at all. US would continue to be one of our major & increasingly important defence-supplier & investor.

1) Wouldn't it be a betrayal to the Indian public to team up with USA who has ridiculed them?

2) What would be the consequences if India support US resolution in the backdrop of Kashmir conflict?

Don't agree with the last sentence at all. We still have time to dump the so called American embrace of the 21st Century. For once, we should listen to the Pakis. If this embrace gets any tighter, we are gonna be in deep trouble.

Sorry, could not understand. What I know is US has the most advanced & largest military-industrial complex, bigger than rest of world combined together. They are super-efficient & produce massive quantities of excellent quality defence goods at a very reasonable price (much cheaper than any EU nations, Israel, or SA & second only to Russia, only much more reliable & proven).

We have a lot to learn from them when it comes to spawning a culture of innovation, competitiveness & dignity of labour. Their project management skills, leadership qualities & relentless drive to be the winner is par excellence. These are few of the human-factors which explain why China would not be able to compete with US in either hard power or soft power, at least in the 21st century.

In fact, we should continue to milk their expertise in every sphere till we have equaled them. :flypig:

Public, at least in India, has short memory. They have more urgent concerns to attend. Do not go by Indian govt.'s mock anger or DFI's anger spewed on US. This is all ephemeral. Present GoI is the most impotent of all. Most people here, quite like China, drool at prospect of settling in US.

Plus, being encircled by China's proxies in all directions, we would do much better than jeopardizing our fledgling but blooming defence-relationship with US. There is simply too much at stake (when it comes our relationship) to be frittered away for some unwieldy sense of faked honour when fate of billions are at stake.

That diplomat comes from an extremely privileged class/background, has a compulsive propensity of fibbing in legal matters & is corrupt to the core. So, most Indians would revel in glee, if she gets prosecuted in India, for her alleged irregularities (crimes).

Self respect is a virtuous trait, my friend and everyone, from individuals to nations should have a modicum of it. We can get weapons from anywhere, not from someone who don't like us, as a nation, as a people, as human beings. If money has to be spent on weapons, let it be spent on friends and not on enemies.

No one likes losers (& whiners). Americans are hardly unique in that. They would prefer to deal with enterprising China than impotent India. When India would rise, everyone would respect it.

Irrespective of what we would like to pretend, we have no self-respect or dignity as a nation. Or else, our soldiers headless bodies would have been aptly answered in kind, rather than being brushed aside as an "old story" by the Home minister. Our people simply do not care for their soldiers anymore.

This is the govt. our people chose. We deserve the treatment doled out to us because we are an impotent, corrupt & sloganeering lot.

India will vote against Sri Lanka. Better for Sri Lanka if they demilitarize the north and east of the nation and let Tamils have a referrundum. And not to mention to get rid of the tyrants in Rajabhaksa's.

India should vote for Sri Lanka because if we support integrity of our neighbor then they will support integrity of our nation.

Integrity is through peace, love and respect. Sri Lanka has no role in India's integrity. India should vote against Sri Lanka. Tamils there will get their Independence with India's assistance.

The reason they love Pakistan and China over India is because of the Tamil issue where they distrust India. If India is able to gain trust of Sri Lanka on Tamil issue then of course they will start loving India too.

Why can't be there peace, love and respect between India and Sri Lanka? If both countries solve their problems peacefully with mutual trust and safe guarding interest of each other then I don't see the absence of those three in between India and Sri Lanka.
