China, India Talk on Strengthening Cooperation

China and India Monday made in- depth and extensive dialogue and exchanges over how to strengthen strategic, economic and trade cooperation, promote bilateral macro- economic policy communication and coordination, as well as deepen and expand pragmatic cooperation in the fields of investment, infrastructure, high-technology, energy efficiency, environment protection and energy.

During the 2nd Meeting of China-India Strategic Economic Dialogue in the Indian capital, the Chairman of the National Development and Reform Commission of China, Zhang Ping, and Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission of India, Montek Singh Ahluwalia, addressed the attendants on the overall outlook of bilateral cooperation.

In his speech, Zhang said the dialogue is an important platform created by the governments of the two countries in order to exchange experiences in economic development and broaden cooperation, as well as an organic part of the Sino-India Strategic Partnership.

As two biggest developing countries in the world, China and India are moving forward on the road of renovation. Both countries share many common interests in the world today, he said.

Zhang said that the just-concluded 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China has clearly pointed out that China will implement a more active open policy and under this guideline, China will consolidate its strategic partnership with India with a strategic and long-term perspective to seek and push forward common interests, develop and expand space of cooperation, learn from each other's experiences and open each other's market.

Zhang suggested that the two countries deepen communication and coordination of each other's macro-economic policy, push forward cooperation in infrastructure including railway, power, telecommunications, improve investment atmosphere, carry out green economic cooperation like renewable energy, energy efficiency and environment protection.

Ahluwalia said the dialogue is a mechanism aimed at promoting exchanges in multiple fields between the two countries, and India- China cooperation has huge potential.

He said the two countries have many things to exchange and India is very much interested in the achievement made by China in infrastructure like highways, ports and railways, while China is also interested in the experiences accumulated by India in many fields.

Ahluwalia added that India-China economic growth is exerting a huge impact on the reshaping of global economic order and India would like to cooperate with China in multilateral frameworks like G-20 and BRICS.

During the meeting, the governments and enterprises of the two countries also signed a number of agreements on joint study of cooperation, railway, software, energy and energy efficiency.

The first such dialogue was held in Beijing in September 2011, after Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh agreed to launch the dialogue in 2010.

I think railway system, power plant, telecommunications system, will be huge opportunities to Chinese company, and seems the governments between India and China ensure this trend.

India will buy the Chinese stuff if it is good enough but regarding the telecommunications stuff, there is possibility that they are bugged for spying on indians.

I think it is premature to say what form this trade will take. Personally, I am all for increasing trade and economic relations. We should invite companies from all over to set up manufacturing plants in industrial SEZs in India. If the Chinese win the bids, they are welcome.

OK, if "made in china" were so bad, and those stuff can't work for 1-2 yrs, the trade deficit would ended around 4 yrs ago.
But the reality is: the deficit is expanding for last few years:

New Delhi is frustrated that trade talks launched when Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao visited India in late 2010 haven't yielded significant benefits. India's trade deficit with China jumped 42% to nearly $40 billion in the last fiscal year ended March 31, and was the largest contributor to the country's overall gap between exports and imports.

Do you think most Indian businessmen were such fool? like TATA, Reliance, Mittal?

By the way, there is a famous saying: India grows during night time, when government sleeps.

Which means Indian people think the private sector is more efficient and wise than government. now based on your statement:
that's because some fools here think that as the chini products are cheap so it will be economically feasible to use them
Both government and private sector in India are stupid, is that your logic? And you mean China is doing business with such kind of trade partner?

You realize you just labeled everyone buying chinese products as fools? Likely including your friends and families. If there are 100 % negative feedbacks, then I am amazed at the 75 billion dollars annual trade between India and China.

On a light note, how old are you?:cool2:

Mikhail is spot on.Now here is an eye-opener from Saad Khan - a Pakistani.Of course I dont expect rockdog et al from Mainland to agree!!.

"Musharraf appointed the ex chief of ISI General Javed Ashraf Qazi as the railway minister and he hammered the final nail into the coffin of railways.
The lure of hefty commissions enticed him and other officials of the railway to purchase coaches and engines from China. Some reports suggest that up to $150 million of commissions and kickbacks changed hands at the time. This was done despite the fact that a locomotive assembly plant was already working in Pakistan and coaches were also manufactured locally. Needless to say, the poor quality engines and coaches were unable to even complete a full run on the railway network of Pakistan. Structural faults appeared and most of them were written off. There was no accountability as no one had the nerves to question an army general who was also the ex chief of the most dreaded military spy service. The irony of the matter is that the same person is still a sitting member of the Senate and is chairing an accounts committee.

While he is no longer at the helm, the poison that he administered has hastened the death of the remaining railway network. His successors were no better if not as corrupt. No attention was paid to the basic infrastructure and many bridges collapsed thus stopping the entire rail operations for months. New bridges were haphazardly constructed but everyone in Pakistan knows that they will soon fall given the deep running corruption in the railways where they always use poor quality materials.

President Zardari added fuel to the fire by forcing the railway officials to purchase more engines from China despite their just opposition that it would be nothing but a major loss of revenue. They had to comply and now those engines are biting dust in railway workshops. Emergency plans were made to acquire engines from reputable companies of Europe and the US but they are just plans as of now. The crisis has reached such level that the railway has started suspending train operations. Dozens of express and local trains have been halted while plans are underway to stop operations of other trains."
Read it all. Saad Khan: Pakistan Derailed
Ultimately the shame is on us that our enemy numero uno is our largest trading partner.

I am of te opinion that india should invite China to build all major infrastructure projects on Build own operate basis.

That will make sure they don't destroy any such infrastructure with missile strikes during any war!

No we will go for any company and any country that will satisfy the requirement and does it at the best price. First satisfy the technical parameters. Then discuss the price. That is how rendering works.

But yes I will suggest china make roads, bridges, HSR, ports everything in India at their own investment and operate them too. :D

Please go to Japan. Do both of us a favor.
Seriously.

Japan has been around as an open market since forever, if they can build HSR in India and make a profit, they already did, Shinkansen has been around the corner for at least 50 years.I think India began to negociate with them to induct Serie 0 and Serie 1 for at least 30 years. As late as In 1987, a no. N feasibility report were already submitted to your government. Japanese even promised a long term loan, but until today, it is still a white elephant.

Stupid Chinese investors just don't have the street smart to avoid the same farce, they will be a laughing stock of the world if they really throw in hard cash to Indian's HSR. Since with India's investment environment, they will be ripped off and cursed upon like I don't want to say what.

And they are helping Indian to build up infrastructures, which themselves, had to rely on the very cruel price scissors against their own rural population in the 1950s-1980s to build up theirs.

If Indian is an independent country, have them to do the same to build up their own, no one is entitled of free lunch.
