They do, They have bee living for more than 100 years. If it werent Sinhalese wont have right over Island too. Maybe only tribes like Vedda would have rights over Island. Considering some genetic studies show that Sinhalese originated from Kalinga area.

So living more than 100 years gives them right to the land they live on? So within next few years Indians could ask for separate homeland from British or Canadians maybe?

Sorry for mentioning 100 years. New refernce materials predates their existence much much before, which in understandble, because tamils could "walk" into Lanka anytime via Ram Setu feature adam's /bridge, considering in ancient times, that place was very shallow. Tamil Nadu being neighboring of Lanka, would have arrived much earlier in Lanka before Kalinga origin Sinhalese. Some of the Vedda tribes in north Lanka, one of the original Lankan tribes, adopted Tamil culture in ancient times, points to the fact. So if you deny Tamils right over Island, same can be said for Sinhalese. So only abroginals would be orignals owners, isnt it? By that logic, all Pakis would need to be kicked out of Pakistan and thrown into Arabian sea, as their nativity cant be established to Indian subcontinent, by their own account

Somebody was pushing their poor refugees in our country.

Tamils have a history of thousands years in Tamilnadu. Not in Sri Lanka. The most funny thing is that the so called thousand year old people don't even have a capital city or any kind of ruins to show to the world. Very peculiar.

Walking into Sri Lanka and going back doesn't count in nation states. What we need is a people who has civilized a certain area for a long period of time to claim it as their own. Unfortunately for Sri Lanka Tamils, they don't have such a civilization.

So again, if Sinhalese came from India; where are the Sinhalese of India living today?

Veddha tribes adopted Tamil culture? Are you nuts? They had their own culture. They lived in jungles away from civilizations. How can they acquire Tamil culture?

As I said before it was only Sinhalese who has created an civilization in the island. Not anyone else. It gives Sinhalese a holy right to the island.

Besides that your whole aboriginal original owners' hypothesis lacks any logic.

Who migrated? Vijaya was an Indian prince. He wasn't a Sinhalese.

Can we just stop with the whole egg and chicken show?
This thread was started to discuss whether Sri Lanka had any chance of economic survival and growth without India.
Again I would reiterate that Sri Lanka does not need Indian economic integration if it wants to remain an economic backwater without any real consequence in the world or the subcontinent for that matter.
Sri Lanka must accept it's position as a geographical satellite of India and also recognize that India is today the third largest global economy on a PPP basis with a PPP GDP 40 times larger than than the GDP of Sri Lanka.This gap will only increase as India's economic liberalization picks up steam.
Sri Lanka can choose to ride along with India ,we would be more than happy to use Colombo as one of our deep water entrepôts. Or it can choose to let the opportunity pass it by and simply be subsumed by the rise of a giant.
India will never invade Sri Lanka because we won't need to ,we simply aren't interested now. But if we are forced into hostility we'll just buy every political leader and military general you have,we will buy every election result you hold. Sri Lanka will be ours without firing a shot .
