Why Israel will rule the new Middle East

If you still think the future of Israel looks bleak, think again.

A few months ago it looked like the Jewish state might not survive until 2013. Rockets were raining down from Gaza; revolution was about to install one Islamicist government in Egypt, and another was poised to take over in Syria. Iran was threatening to finish what Hitler's Holocaust started, with an atomic bomb. The Obama administration seemed unwilling to stop that happening-- while Israel's only alternative to nuclear annihilation was a preemptive strike that was bound to start a major shooting war in the Middle East.

Now, however, Israel's future may be brighter than ever.Iran remains the neighborhood's unpredictable mad dog, although its nuclear bark is still far worse than its bite. But Israel itself is set to dominate the region like never before. Thanks to the industrial technological miracle known as fracking, Israel is about to become the new energy Mecca of the Middle East, and there's very little its Arab neighbors can do to stop it.Indeed, instead of plotting Israel's destruction, its Arab neighbors could find themselves courting Tel Aviv's favor the way the United States and Europe courted OPEC in the 1970's and 1980's.

What's tilting the region's dynamics toward Israel?

For one thing, the Arab Spring has spawned a chaos and instability in every country it's touched, that's going to grind on for years to come. A new report warns that Egypt is on the verge of collapse; Israel's old adversary Syria, already is. Both are also very likely headed toward economic ruin–as has already happened to Israel's other foe, Hamas in Gaza, and could hit Iran next.Israel is going to be the famous "still point in a turning world"–a world turning in on itself, with little or no energy to spend confronting the Jewish state. And here's where fracking comes in.

Hydraulic fracking is, of course, is the technology that uses a high-pressure mixture of water, sand, and chemicals to crack open deep deposits of shale oil and natural gas. It's single-handedly revived our domestic energy industry–to the point where by 2020 we'll be the world's biggest oil producer.

What many people don't know is that the land of Israel holds almost 250 billion barrels of oil shale reserves (that's according to the World Petroleum Council). That's almost equal to Saudi Arabia's 260 billion barrels--and as conventional oil sources there and in the Persian Gulf gets harder to extract (it already's happening) and the cost goes up, Israel will be the new energy frontier of the region. It's already happening. The fracking-savvy Canadians have joined an Israeli energy technology fund, to help companies like Israeli Energy Initiatives begin production of oil shale in reserve-rich areas like the Valley of Elah near Jerusalem; the Russians have signed a deal to help open up the vast natural gas reserves discovered in 2008 and 2009 off Israel's coast–some 16 trillion cubic feet worth.

Right now production is still tiny, but as fracking technology continues to advance Israel could soon move beyond its declared goal of energy independence, and become a major oil exporting country–including to oil-poor neighbors like Egypt and Syria and Lebanon. The implications are nothing less than staggering.Instead of an embattled and isolated outpost of Western democracy, Israel would look like the Middle East's new economic colossus.

Instead of shunning Israel for fear of offending oil-rich Arab states, Western Europeans could find themselves beating a path to Israel's oil shale fields–and rethinking who they want as their ally in the region, and who they don't.That includes the United States. Fracking is changing the world's economic map; it's about to change the Middle East. It's time policy-makers caught up with reality, and realized that our relationship with Israel may be our most important bond to that region's future.

Only difference is that Israel is developer of sophisticated arms and rest of gulf is just purchaser of what west can shed. Just by blinking GPS signals, US will send entire Arab planning into red sea. And we all know why US will do that................

Arabs after the six day war and Yom-Kippur war know that facing Israel in conventional war will bring them more humiliation.
If Arabs were that powerful Israel would not still exist to show them the middle finger for more than 6 decades :p

Even if they have huge pile of oil beneath their soil, its still years if not decade away before they can come near the daily oil output of gulf countries. Also the israelis need to invest huge amount of money to build requisite infrastructure. So its still some time before they can think of becoming oil superpower.

It depends on whether or how long US will maintain its super status.

And after that, it will depend on whether there is some other big brother powerful enough to support the existence of Israel.

Jews are smart by keep good relations with all the obvious powers.

Considering the natural conditions, it's not a fair fight between Jews and Muslims.

That they are more advanced and battle ironed than those Muslims in all aspects nowadays, doesn't promise the same case in future.

And who knows what will happen decades from now on.

The unfair point is that Jews ought to win every fight for their survive, on the other side, Muslims can lost every fight but they are still there.

The greater ME including Pak think otherwise. For them, the notion is that our soldiers are mujahids, fighting in the name of Allah
and nobody can beat them. Those people cannot think beyond their religion.

Israel Begins Pumping Natural Gas From Offshore Field

Israel started gas production at the Tamar offshore field in an effort to put the country on the road to energy independence and save a projected 1 billion shekels ($274 million) a month, according to the government.

The gas was expected to reach Israel's port city of Ashdod by afternoon today, the Energy and Water Ministry said. The field in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, estimated to hold 9 trillion cubic feet of natural gas, is being developed by a group that includes Noble Energy Inc. (NBL), Delek Drilling-LP, Avner Oil Exploration LLP (AVNRL) and Isramco Negev 2 LP. (ISRAL) Along with Noble, Israeli energy exploration companies have discovered enough gas under the Mediterranean over the past three years to supply the country for 150 years.

"We are talking about billions of dollars coming to the state from tax revenues from Tamar gas over a 20-year period," Gilad Alper, a senior analyst at Excellence Nessuah Brokerage Ltd. in Tel Aviv, said in a phone interview. "It will also reduce energy costs as we will replace expensive imports with a cheap domestic supply of natural gas. The start of the flow is a big positive for the economy." The Tamar and Dalit fields could supply Israel with gas for two decades. The larger Leviathan field is estimated to hold 18 trillion cubic feet of gas, Noble said in a statement March 6.

"This is an important day for the Israeli economy," Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said today in an e-mailed statement. "We are taking an important step toward energy independence." The three fields provide Israel with reserves more than 14 times larger than Germany's total proven gas reserves, which the BP Statistical Review of World Energy published in June 2012 lists at 2.2 trillion cubic feet. Russia holds the biggest gas reserves, followed by Iran, according to BP Plc.

"This is the beginning of a new era," said Isaac Tshuva, controlling shareholder of Delek Group Ltd. (DLEKG), which owns stakes in Tamar via its Delek Drilling and Avner units. "The Israeli economy will be able to exploit the advantages of natural gas environmentally, geopolitically, socially and economically, and turn Israel into an important international player."

Qatar, the Persian Gulf emirate with the world's third- largest reserves of gas, said on March 10 it found a deposit with 2.5 trillion cubic feet of the fuel, its first discovery since locating the world's biggest gas field 42 years ago. The North Field, shared with neighboring Iran, provides Qatar with 900 trillion cubic feet of reserves. The flow from Tamar is expected to contribute about 1 percent to Israel's gross domestic product, the Bank of Israel said in a March 24 report, forecasting that the economy will grow 3.8 percent in 2013, including the contribution from gas.

The Bank of Israel also said the flow from the Tamar field will improve the nation's current-account balance by as much as $3 billion this year. For every $1 billion improvement in the balance, the exchange rate should appreciate about 1 percent, the bank has estimated.

In February, Russia's OAO Gazprom (GAZP), the world's biggest natural gas producer, signed an agreement for the exclusive rights to export liquefied natural gas produced from the Tamar floating LNG plant. Noble Energy forecast Israeli demand for gas to grow at a compounded rate of 15 percent in 2012-2017. The Leviathan field is expected to supply the domestic markets in 2016, Noble said in December.

Still here but divided and killing each other and this will continue for years to come. The same fire is spreading into Africa which will take care of Chinese interest in natural resources. I know the last sentence if off topic therefore read my new thread on the topic.

Israel's booming economy puts billions in US aid under spotlight
Last week, Israel passed another milestone, a potential gamechanger for its economy. Gas began to flow from gas fields off the coast. By 2015 Israel is expected to be fully energy independent, and may be a net exporter.
Israel is well on the way to water independence. Its water desalination industry supplies up to 40 percent of the country's demand for water, and another 40 percent comes from recycled water from domestic and commercial consumption. Israel reuses its water two to three times.
The boom may give a louder voice to calls for a reduction to the $3 billion worth of financial assistance Israel receives from the U.S. each year – especially in the Washington, where budget battles continue.
And Israel still has economic problems. The gap between rich and poor is one of the highest of all developed countries, according to the OECD. Newspapers are full of reports that Israel's richest man, Idan Ofer, has decided to relocate to London in order to avoid paying more taxes – a motive his associates deny.
^^^ The 1 percenters anywhere on the globe are same.
