Why do the Taliban prefer to kill on Fridays? – by Abdul Nishapuri

An innocent child, a victim of Taliban's war on Allah - Photo Credit: BBC Urdu
Here I am, once again, trying to muster up some emotional and physical energy to write a few lines in condemnation of the Taliban terrorists (and their supporters and apologists).

Today, on Friday 9 July 2010, a Talib suicide bomber exploded himself "in the way of Allah" (as Qari Hussain would probably claim) or "in reaction to the USA and Pakistani governments' unjust policies" (as Imran Khan, Hameed Gul and Munawar Hasan would indeed state), killing at least 65 innocent persons (including children) and injuring more than 105.

According to Xinhua, Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed responsibility for the attack. This admission was also reported in a local TV Channel Dawn News.

The people, the Taliban attacked today, were those who queued outside a government office in Pakistan's Mohmand tribal region (in the town of Yakaghund) in order to receive donated wheelchairs for disabled and elderly persons.

However, given the frequency of the Taliban and Sipah-e-Sahaba's consistent attacks on the people of Pakistan, I have become relatively insensitive to the gravity and barbaric nature of such attacks. My thoughts are instead focused on perhaps a petty coincidence, i.e., the Taliban's choice of the day.

For the last three years (in fact, since General Musharraf's military operation against the ISI-sponsored terrorists holed up in Islamabad's Red Mosque), it is not hard to discern that Friday is a day of choice for the Taliban suicide bombers to explode themselves.

I wonder, why? Why do the Taliban prefer to kill on Fridays?

Any clue?

hmmmmm let me think...... hmmmmmmmmmmm

Okay Seriously, Maybe because Killing One person on Friday is equal to Killing 100? I have heard that deeds done, good or bad are multiplied on certain days, maybe that is why!!

OR

Maybe, its just because they want to Cause Maximum Damage! Fridays is the Day people converge, and gather around, and when there is a Crowd, its easy to set off the murder device!!!

But People like Zion Hamid, and the Likes of the Millions of Terrorist Sympathisers online in Various Forums dont understand the above, and they say, Its the Hindu Hand or Zionist Hindu Hand behind this! They just dont understand that, Terrorists too are humans, they just want to detonate and go home or rather Hell!!!

If some one needs to know what Taliban Think and Their ideology then just discuss with the Students in Deoband Madaris from Karachi to Islamabad then he will get the idea easily .A Suicide bomber believe that the innocent people would be killed in the attack are also "shaheeds " like him .As he is scarifying his life and will go to heaven the innocent people would also go with him .The "ulemas " who brain wash them justified this action .for them killing innocent in suicide bombing is collateral damage but their aim is to kill army, police ,government and other "non Islamic " groups .

For suicide bombers this is a very noble cause so i think they chose friday "Jumma tul Mubarak " ,they might be thinking that

" Jumma kay din ajrr-o-sawab Ziyada hota hay "
This particular comment struck me in that blog. How true is that?

INDIA: Direct Action
Monday, Aug. 26, 1946

India suffered the biggest Moslem-Hindu riot in its history. Moslem League Boss Mohamed Ali Jinnah had picked the 18th day of Ramadan for "Direct Action Day" against Britain's plan for Indian independence (which does not satisfy the Moslems' old demand for a separate Pakistan). Though direct, the action was supposed to be peaceful. But before the disastrous day was over, blood soaked the melting asphalt of sweltering Calcutta's streets.
Rioting Moslems went after Hindus with guns, knives and clubs, looted shops, stoned newspaper offices, set fire to Calcutta's British business district. Hindus retaliated by firing Moslem mosques and miles of Moslem slums. Thousands of homeless families roamed the city in search of safety and food (most markets had been pilfered or closed). Police blotters were filled with stories of women raped, mutilated and burned alive. Indian police, backed by British Spitfire scouting planes and armored cars, battled mobs of both factions. Cried Hindu Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru (who is trying to form an interim government despite the Moslems' refusal to enter it): "Either direct action knocks the Government over, or the Government knocks direct action over."

By the 21st day of Ramadan, direct action had killed some 3,000 people and wounded thousands more. Said one weary police officer: "All we can do is move the bodies to one side of the street." Vultures tore into the rapidly putrefying corpses (among them, the bodies of many women & children).
Like other Indian leaders, Jinnah denounced the "fratricidal war." But most observers wondered how Jinnah could fail to know what would happen when he called for "direct action." Shortly before the riots broke out, his own news agency (Orient Press) reported that Jinnah, anticipating violence, was sleeping on the floor these nights—to toughen up for a possible sojourn in jail.

actually that sentence is right, Jumme ke din zyda sawab hota ha
If thats the case then half the job of security agencies are done in protecting people. If they remain extra vigilant on friday on the place of congregation like mosque etc then these attacks can be avoided and reduced.

Friday declared sensitive in Lahore

Updated at: 2300 PST, Thursday, June 03, 2010 ShareThis story

LAHORE: Lahore Police have declared Friday very sensitive and put the force on high alert today. SSP Operations Lahore, Chaudhry Shafiq ordered snap checking and search operation in the city.

In a letter to IG Punjab Tariq Salim Dogar SSP operations demanded 500 bulletproof jackets and latest weaponry to cope with the situation.

We have declared Friday sensitive because most of the attacks occurred on that day, police official said.

like somebody said "Friday ko sawab zayada milta hai" may be thats why they kill on friday,

btw - why Americans started war during the month of Ramadhan? both in Iraq and Afghanistan?
Why did they executed Saddam Hussain on the day of Eid? (when we sacrifice an animal)

Are American's too after getting rewards from the All-mighty?

May be that american thought those who were killed during holy month of ramdan and EID will be pardoned for the sins they had committed all their life and will directly be going to heaven. If you look that way americans were doing social service during ramdan in afghanistan and iraq.

=.
well fridays are always sensitive, Mosques are swarmed by people & more the people more the glory, You just cannot post a whole division outside every mosque & prayers won't stop because of fear of bombs so in terms of security there's always a risk. This business is more like a football game with Security forces as Goal keeper, no one will remember the saves goal keeper made but every one will certainly remember the moment when the ball went past him...

NO matter how good the goal keeper is, he simply cannot repel every attack though you cannot completely rule out possibility of Match Fixing but i really don't see any match fixing here
