I think I will make this one post to announce the return of PGP20002 - the guy who named Mig35 as the contender for India's MMRCA in 2006. PGP20002 - The guy who literally gave the name Mig-35 to what was being touted as Mig29M3. The guy who suggested that LCA would not get FoC by even 2012 as way back as in 2006-07, when every so-called Indian patriot mentioned that FoC for LCA would be there by 2008. The same guy who mentioned that Vikramaditya would have to be bought for close to $2 bn when the revised pricing was assumed to be $1.2 bn. Well there were too many firsts from PGP20002 in the era of old forums before servers were shifted. Now, my biggest conclusion is that Rafale is the worst defence deal ever made by any government in Indian history. What India needs now is to sell 49% stake in HAL to Mitsubishi, shelve LCA after Mark II production of upto 120 fighters and on the sidelines get a production line for Su-30MKI-3 (Su-35) in addition to a collaborative effort for Mitsubishi X-2.

So I would like to see Mitsubishi X-2 instead of Rafale .

Why ?
  1. Supports Make in India initiative being a completely new platform and the fact that Mitsubishi is looking for participation from overseas entities and might be open to the idea of a production line in India.
  2. Japanese - hence lesser cost over-runs in the project and streamlined production. The aircraft will be oriented keeping China in mind and possibly most PAF will be equipped with Chinese weapons in near future.
  3. Cheaper compared to Rafale and likely only 50% costlier compared to LCA while being 5th gen.
  4. The only aircraft that will have capability to meet 5+gen standards based on its concept.
  5. Mitsubishi is one of the only groups across the world that is spread across the entire spectrum of defence from Naval, Land to Air and India can sell off 49% stake in HAL to Mitsubishi in the future. It could be like an exotic swap where Mitsubishi brings in Aero technology while gets stake in HAL.

Here's what i would buy if i had the power of the RM for a term between 2020 & 2025.For sake of ease I've calculated the defence budget at 2.5% of GDP and purchase budget at 30% of defence budget once for each 5 yr term.
2020-2025
GDP(nominal)-3.5$ tr/annum
defence budget-87.5$bil/annum
purchase budget-26.5$bil/annum i.e. total budget of ~130$bil

1)Complete protective gear for 1 million soldiers including BPJ,ballistic helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, all terrain boots , assault rifle, pistol,& backpack. Cost for each soldier estimated at 4000$ total cost for 1 million men =4$billion.
2)Funding for 6 SSNs at 2$billion each =12$billion
3)Funding for 4 more SSBNs at 2$billion each=8$billion
4)Four LHD's at a combined cost of 6 billion$.
5)Six Destroyers at 1.5$billion each=9$billion
6)Ten frigates at 1$billion each= 10$billion
7)Ten SSKs at 1 $ billion each=10$billion
8)Five S500 units at 1$billion each= 5$billion
9)Five Super Swordfish LRTR @ 1.5$bil each-7.5$bil
10)Towed Arty- 1000 Bharat-52 at cost of roughly 2 billion$
11)1000 Dhanush Howitzers/ATAGS at a cost of roughly 2 billion $
12)1500 Pinaka MBRL at a cost of 2 billion $
13)500 M777 at a cost of approx 3 billion$
14)Tanks- 700 ARJUN mk2 tanks at a cost of roughly 6 billion$
15)APC's- 1000 TATA Kestrels at a cost of 3 billion$
16)AWACS- 4 more DRDO ELTA AIRBUS AWACS at a cost of 2 billion$
17)TANKERS- 5 more AIRBUS MRTT/BOEING KC-46 at a cost of 3 billion$
18)20 more C-17s at a cost of 6 billion $
19)30 more C-130H at a cost of 1 billion$
20)200 more DHRUV ALH at a cost of 1 billion$
21)20 MI-26 at a cost of 500 million$
22)20 CH-47 Chinook at a cost of 500 million$
23)200 mi-17 V5 at an approx cost of 1 billion$
24)100 more LCH at a cost of 500 million$
25)30 more APACHE AH-64E LONGBOW at a cost of 1 billion $
26)200LCA mk3 at a cost of 75$mil each=15$Bil

I still have 9$ Bil left over which would be used for upgradation of ten military bases at the cost of 500$Million/base= Upgradation of all Military academies & staff colleges to the levels to US Ivy League .

[[I made this document on Mar 03, 2016 based on a pure reporter’s perspective. It is my own creation – “Project Silver Sky”. I just realize that I can post it in this particular thread. It is pure fictional and I wrote it by my imagination. So read it in a light manner and have fun.]]

Cost of single Tejas Mk.1A is $28 million in 2016 (when 1$=67 Rupees). By 2023, let’s assume Rupee appreciates to 45, i.e. 1$=45 Rupees. Thus in 2024, cost of Tejas Mk.1A will be $18.80 million per piece. Tejas Mk.2 for Navy (N-Tejas) will be ready for induction by that time. We can guess it will cost $22 million each.

PROJECT SILVER SKY

This was such a highly classified project that nobody had slightest idea what it was all about. The mystifying goal of this project was like a mist; even close defense experts knew nothing about it. It was said that it was the dream of Indian Prime Minister and most of this was designed by him, also with the assistance of Defense Minister and MOD. Both PM and DM were asked several times earlier what was all that about. But they were strictly tightlipped about it. On 23rd Sep 2021, the Defense Minister informed publicly that the information would be exposed at the right time before the starting of the project. On 2nd Jan 2024, the DM declassified Project Silver Sky and the data was a shocker! Everyone was anticipating something big, but not this big. The project was for the IAF only. But “Big” was an understatement, it was massively scary still such a highly ambitious goal, that if achieved, can propel India on par with USA and Russia in Air Fighter League. Both countries had given surprise reactions. Even China had taken a cautious eyebrow on this and gave an official statement that it would consider it to be the highest level threat to it.

So what is “PROJECT SILVER SKY”?

The mission of the project is to ramp up production of fighters significantly than the existing rate. MOD has decided to induct mainly 5th generation fighters in IAF. They will consist of Heavy-category fighter (FGFA), Medium-category fighter (AMCA) and Light-category fighter (Tejas Mk.3). By early 2024, AMCA will be ready for induction in IAF. Cost of AMCA will be $35 million per unit. Production will start from 1st Apr, 2024. According to plan, a mindboggling 900 AMCAs will be produced in the span of only 12 years (50 squadrons!)!!! That alone is higher than the requisite aircraft squadron of 44/45! That is the number of only AMCA. FGFA and MK.3 will be produced as well.

FGFA will be ready for induction by early 2025 and production will start from 1st Apr, 2025. In 2016, cost of a single FGFA was estimated to be $100 million. But by 2025, price will come down to $70 million. A whopping 756 FGFAs (Yes, it is 756 and not 156!) will be produced in 12 years (42 squadrons!)!!! This figure is the scariest aspect of the project. In 2016, cost of a single FGFA was estimated to be $100 million. But by 2025, price will come down to $70 million. Development of Tejas Mk.3 is progressing at very fast pace and year of introduction is slated to 2027. Cost of single Mk.3 will be $26 million. A staggering 864 Mk.3s will be procured in mere 10 years (48 squadrons!)!!!

Thus, by the end of 4th quarter of 2036 (31st Mar, 2037), India will field an unbelievable total of 140 squadrons (This is the number of only 5th gen fighter aircrafts!). With a massive 2,520 5th gen fighters, India will eventually enter elite superpower club with no one to challenge it. Brief information/timeline/cost is given below.

HAL AMCA

1st yr.: 60 (5 per month) [Apr 01, 2024 to Mar 31, 2025]

2nd yr.: 60 (5 per month) [Apr 01, 2025 to Mar 31, 2026]

3rd yr.: 60 (5 per month) [Apr 01, 2026 to Mar 31, 2027]

8th yr.: 84 (7 per month) [Apr 01, 2031 to Mar 31, 2032]
