Lol. Nah.

  1. $350M-500M apiece for AWACs (if we order in bulk prices go down) means $12B to 17B.
  2. A330 MRTT cost $150 M apiece. so $23B for the refuellers.
  3. ISTARs cost $500M apiece but prices go down when ordered in bulk so $23B.
  4. Global Hawk $99M apiece and if ordered in bulk, prices go down so expect around $7.5B to $9B.
  5. MQ-9 Reaper costs $32M apiece but if produced by India indigenously, price would be around $20M. at 500 units it would be $10B.
  6. Satellite cost is $150M and launch cost is $45M so $300M per satellite. However if produced in bulk, satellite costs come down drastically to around $80-90M and if used heavy large rockets ($100M per heavy launcher) to launch several satellites at one time, like 10 satellite per heavy launcher and total cost is around $1B and at 50 launches, it would be $50B
Total costs of 1 to 6 is $132B. Spread the acquisition capital costs over 20 years and it comes down to $6.6B a year. Hardly a hit to India's economy.

To further add to my point, if you include maintenance cost which is typically half of the yearly acquisition costs a year that makes it up to $10B a year. GoI can afford these kind of costs.

my noob solution to IAFs combat squadrun shortage -

1. order 36 rafales from france today ( request delivery of atleast 12 - 18 before 2024 )
2.order 114 more tejas mk 1a instead of mrfa ( delivery by 2030 )
fastrack tejas mk2 - induction starts in 2027
3. 54 tejas mk2 delivered by 2030
4. get the 54 mirage 2000s uae is going to retire by 2025 (hopium )
5. 80 su 30s upgraded with AESA radar and new avionics by 2025 , all 282 by 2030
6. 60 jaguars upgraded to darin 3 standard by 2030

we will have - 282 upgraded su 30s + 72 rafales + 94 mirage 2000s + 40 tejas mk1 + 187 tejas mk1a + 54 tejas mk2 + 60 upgraded jaguars + 65 mig 29 upg + a few old aircrafts in reserve
= 854 fighter jets + few old ones in reserve = 42 squadruns , problem solved
