the US is in decline - then the question is who is going to replace the US ?
No one will replace USA neither China neither any other country.
Because world will not remain Unipolar.
Non of the other country will be able to match the same level of economic threshold around the globe which US enjoyed for past 30-40 Years without any real competition.

Multiple big economies are going to appear in future which influence thing's too.

But in security dimensions it can be China which can try to implement it's own laws and rules but to counter that Quad was created and US also understand this that's why they became the member of the Quad but their position in Quad is not that clear.

I think people are confusing the divisions within a democratic society and national decline.

The US with its 2 -party system has become more like other messy multi-party democratic states like India where there is always some form of scorched-earth politics. This has surprised many people. The difference with other countries is that the US still has a very strong central government. The economy is left to the private sector to grow without interference, unlike China where all kinds of failing industries are propped up by the state.

The US was once the manufacturing engine of the world after WW2 but eventually it gave way to Japan.
I remember in the eighties about all the stories about how Japan will eat the US lunch and overtake the US economy.

China has dominated low-end manufacturing and built its trillion dollar economy of the back of workers slaving 12 to 14 hours a day to create china's export driven economy. The next generation of the Chinese economy has to compete on ideas, innovation and high-end products. There is no guarantee that China will win that battle. Plus, the next generation of Chinese are not going to work 14 hours a day.

China's closed education system is not going to create the type of creative people that are game-changers.
Creativity is not just in Science and Technology.....its also in the arts, music, books, universities, popular culture. China's "CCP stage managed Opera" like system of governance has a limited shelf life.

Chinese can copy and out work you, and that works well until you transition to a high end economy.
So if the US is in decline - then the question is who is going to replace the US ?
All advanced economies that are running full bore will slow down eventually, but overtaking them is not that easy.
Respected member , kindly don't say that usa has a strong central government.

There is one little problem with China; they can't differentiate between friends and foes.

When Rodrigo Dueterte came to power in the Philippines, his first move was to junk all the ties with the USA and build ties with China. He massively liberalised the economy of Philippines and rolled a red carpet for Chinese investments. At one point, it was so bad that the local businessmen there started getting angry about the special concessions that Chinese corporations were granted.

Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, it was seen that Chinese factories in Philippines were allowed to keep their outlets open while Filipino businesses were ordered to remain shut. This level of boot-kissing was only next to Pakistan's. As you can see from the recent reports, CCP continues to take over Philippines' excessive economic zone.

Similarly, when the Human Rights violations issue was raised in the UN during the initial days of the Uyighur issue, dozens of African, Asian and Latin American countries supported China - many so-called Muslim ones as well. All this was because of the Chinese investments. But then what happened? Did China forgive their loans or give them extensions? Nope. Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei all have tried to cosy up to the CCP and yet, they continue to get hammered.

China's sense of exceptionalism is a lot different from the United States - the latter has this sense of exceptionalism that gives some form of leeway to its lackeys like Japan, South Korea, Germany, the UK, etc. The US is kind enough to throw some scraps at its pets.

However, China's sense of exceptionalism is more reminiscent of Imperial Japan where they think it is their god-given right to rule everyone and if they submit to them, it is just something they are expected. And that is dangerous. With the USA, there is always somewhere you can have some form of negotiation if you are their lackey (not implying that we should be); but with China, nothing short of tissue-paper treatment is acceptable to the CCP.

The only option for a rogue tyrannical state like that is to be put down.

As for American decline - it has long started. The US will never be lowered or challenged from the outside. With the advent of the Biden-Harris Administration, the decline will only get worse. Donald Trump was trying to save them from the typical Deep-State nonsense that the US was living in until now. That's why his presidency was so troublesome as the Deep State couldn't continue their agenda under his non-conformist, anti-establishment and of course eccentric style of administration.

The US is definitely not a democracy and there is more to their government structure than they show the government. Call me a conspiracy theorist, but something is off about their system.

Never say never.

Didn't know that US has a Muslim-majority city.

If black neighbourhoods are anything to go by, this is going to get 10x worse in the future.

The two (nearly) immutable facts of history:

1. The expansionary/empire building phase of a nation lasts for around 200 years on an average. The American empire has had a truly exceptional run, expanding for over 300 years (starting with the American-Spanish war). The fall is imminent and overdue.

2. India has been the most advanced part of the world for almost the entirety of the period since the beginning of the Holocene; its destiny writ by geography. The default position will be reinstated sooner or later, lest the world enters a glacial maximum in the near future.

depends upon what you mean by the death of a country. the nation is defined by the ethnicity of its founding stock and the culture of the driving group of people. when those people are wholly replaced by a completely unrelated stock of people and sometimes even people who have very different cultures and those who are antagonistic to the founding group, then the nation that was born could be declared as dead.

I don't think the USA will exist as a whole again as an Anglo-Saxon culture with European ethnic makeup ever again and they will be relegated to a small part of the US.And I am not going to rewrite history and say that those Anglo-Saxon settlers need some foreign group's help to setup America and grow it into a modern powerful country.when those types of people are in the minority do you, think the country is still same,i don't think so.A nation is meant to be a family home for YOUR tribe for all coming generations.it should not be occupied by foreigners who just immigrated and came in to make some fortune from an opportunity.

The USA has already made many mistakes that cannot be corrected in the form of demographics as they have imported a lot of people with no love for european culture or people and are simply different.different groups will have different politics based on culture and even based on being simply of their identity.USA will feel a lot of internal fissures as these groups gain political and cultural power and the US won't ever be able to manipulate and spend tie outside plotting world domination because it will be putting out fires inside and to unstable inside. So how is this thing good for the average european decendant,i don't think he will be happy.

sustainability of your country in terms of energy and resources does not matter if your future generations will be second class citizens in your own country that your ancestors built.even if your country was running smoothly and every facilitiy and amenity is abundant in that country,it won't matter if the primary inhabitants and recipients of that benefit are outsiders who have history with the founding group. Also the incoming immigrants won't care about the countries stature and respect in the global stage as for them it is just an economy to leach off.some people will come in illegally and leach of it's benefit system illegally and some will legally and leach of jobs and other facilities legally, that is the only difference.

The USA make soft balkanize or actually balkanize if these concentrations of groups happen in specific geographies, some crisis followed by the specific politics of the group concentrated in certain areas may make it atleast no go zones and then may even try to secede.we already see this with some mexican areas and some black areas.

Question looks irrelevant now. US is no longer the sole formidable global force and it's influence seems to be getting only replaced by more and more countries in near future.
If you are talking about military , economic , technology supremacy I dont think so . I used to think EU ll be a 3rd force in terms of economy and global influence . But they are declining . Russian economy was not impressive earlier , now military , technology power is on decline . China is only capable economic , military , technological challenge to USA . We have to wait to see how it unfolds .

Your argument doesn't contradict me that US is no longer sole source of power centre nor that US economic decline is happening sooner than expected that will anyway throw its military and technological developments (R&D) budgets in garbage.
US has a huge military to maintain. So decline of budget won't just dormant it like Russia. US capabilities will rather suddenly start vanishing off like UK and Japan.
Microsoft , google other big techs , technological companies have reached out to almost every person , organization of world
Their replacements have been created around world and gaining popularity.
And you ll find chinese infra projects , chinese products in most of the countries .
Which is getting diversified now with rise of India and Southeast Asia.
