Islamabad:

Pakistan has said that it is capable of shooting down US Predator aircrafts operating inside its geographical territory, but fears that such a step could ignite a war between both the countries.

Talking to media persons on the sidelines of the passing out parade at the Risalpur Air Force Academy, Pakistan Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Rao Qamar Suleman said PAF is capable of shooting down US drones, but the final decision in this regard rests with the government and Parliament.

“We had shot down a US spy plane near Kasur in 2002,” Suleman said.

Concerned over India’s acquisition of the Air Warning and Control System (AWACS), he said such steps would lead to an arms race in the region.

Suleman claimed that Pakistan has the technology to counter India’s move.

“We have every technology to reply India in a befitting manner,” The Nation quoted Suleman, as saying.

Breaking Pak apart won't achieve anything. Instead of one messed up nation, we'll have several of them in the region. The real threat to the world is Pakistan's nuclear arsenal.

The US revenge should not be exacted on the average Pak citizen, but on the PA, which nurtured the Taliban. As far as PA is concerned a real payback will be to strip Pak off its nukes. To the PA, those nukes are more important than anything else in Pakistan. Stripping them off the nukes will be a knockout blow to them, as well as being a major step forward in reducing risk of nuclear war or nuclear terrorism.

I don't know if USA has that goal in mind and if pakistan will be able to do anything if USA calls their nuclear bluff. If USA respected Pakistan's nukes or felt they were a problem they would not be able to bomb them so easily.

USA obviously doesn't respect pak nukes since US mainland isn't threatened by Pak nukes.

The day Pak tests an ICBM (and i get the feeling they are looking for an ICBM to counter US threat), and get the whole world in their range, USA will be taking a totally different tone with pak.

Com on Dude, Thats why Americans using drones rather than Fighters in your soil!!

Any Third World country with traditional small military force can shoot down those drones. Its not the matter whether you can shoot them, rather the point is whether you got the Balls to do it.

Mr Suleman, words clearly express his frustration over US drone attacks. He knows very well he can do nothing about it.



PS - I got a better and cheaper solution for Mr Suleman. Destroy those drones before they take off from your PAF Airfield. That will work:blum3:
