I added the "?" in the title of this thread because I don't trust the title of the article Forbes just released. Is it just me, or does it seem as though the Western media is desperate to paint Putin as someone who's battled into a corner?

For the record, I consider Putin/Modi/Netanyahu to be the triumvirate in terms of nationalistic leaders who have their eye on a wide, long-term landscape for their respective countries, and who want nothing more than to see their countries regain their former glories. I have always felt as though the vast majority of Russians agree with this description of Putin but the recent blast of news articles here in the West on Russia seem to suggest otherwise.

Anyone have any thoughts/ideas if that truly is the case? Is Putin on the ropes? if so, what does that mean for Russia's relationship with India?
