Murica has never fought a capable nation independently in all it's lifetime. America thuggery is limited to Middle East and some shithole African countries.
They have never fought a behemoths like China nor does it's population has an appetite of war.
Any war with more than 1000 body bags will break the spirit of Murica, they will be show their aukat.

And neither has China fought anyone, not even a weak country. People on Weibo are already baying for peace and are against war. Chinese people have no appetite for bloodshed.

Murica will never fight a war directly where they will get humiliated, they can resort to other tricks but not war. US cannot fight in a Contested Air space, they cannot fight in contested waters.

American Navy and Air Force can provide adequate cover for the Taiwanese army to mount a successful defense. If you think they will not fight a direct war, just yesterday America sent a 40-60 aircraft fleet to defend Nancy Pelosi's plane from Chinese threats, and I reckon they weren't armed with bouquets.

You are under estimating what's at stake for usa against China. It's not just another proxy war which will be localised.

If USA doesn't fight china it means end of UD hegemony which means end of US dollar and with that goes away all of American prosperity.
This is life and death for them. American will fight their own to defend dollars might .

They can't just give up all they have enjoyed for 60 years without fighting.

US didn't fight in Roos. US sure as fuck won't fight in Taiwan.
The financial losses will hit both sides as the inevitable US-China economic decoupling happens way more violently than it would've, had US not got feisty and jumped the gun on China.

As for the Chinese side, dictatorships have a tendency to be unpredictable (in an unwanted way) and I fully expect China to overreact to their geopolitical bondage session streamed live on every news channel in a more dramatic way.

I understand what you're saying but you have to take history in consideration. After Korea, US has not fought a conventional enemy for their allies in forever.
In fact, they even refused to protect their allies from non-state actors, tucked tail and left.

Also, I forget where I read it and what it actually was but basically, the gist of the article/book/video (don't remember which exactly) was that US has certain countermeasures in Taiwan to prevent the acquisition of semiconductor market in case CCP succeeds.

We'll just have to wait and see. Khayali pulaos don't make you fat but they sure as hell aren't healthy.

Just for people who think China will mount an actual invasion on Taiwan, remember there was a month-long build-up of Russian forces before they attacked. The whole NATO got activated, they started massive number of ELINT flights daily to observe Russian movements, and there were periodic updates upon what was going to happen, well in advance.

Well, nothing of such sorts till now.
