Nope.. The last time someone tried to occupy Solomon islands was during WW2, when Japan tried to occupy Solomon islands and New Guinea, to strengthen its defensive position.. The Americans and Aussies together attacked resulting in the Battle of Coral Sea, and then the resounding American victory in the Battle of Midway..
Solomon Islands is seriously f**ked if it tries to host Chinese military base...
they are not going to do anything, china is too big to not expand and seriously austrailia will attack - with what.look at the optics of that.
china does not need to base warships, they just need soft influence of presence and support from that island.no nation can argue against that unless they are literally able to look after the PI nations needs like a parent. They would not want that with the present culture.
most of these western liberal democracies only like (their) democracy and their decisions.
they just have to live in a world where illiberal democracies, autocrats, kingdoms all exist.there is no universal rule that solomon islands should obey Australia forever especially keeping in mind the history of austrailian colonial past.
western democracies want to lecture other countries on their decisions whether it is related to china or otherwise.
when they make deals they always move into other non related internal issues china offers no strings attached bad termed money but money regardless.
if the west wants influence it must suck the d*cks of foreigners otherwise they should stop lecturing about chinese bad loans and watch.most foreigners know about the terms of chinese loans, they just dont want any social and political conditions attached to their deals like in western deals.
