NEW DELHI: A two-day long Unified Commanders Conference begins here on Thursday to focus on “jointness, integration and development of integrated war fighting capability” of the three Services.
Defence Minister A.K. Antony will inaugurate the meet, whose overall theme is “Victory through Jointness.”
The conference will deliberate upon issues relating to the capability of the Services to meet security challenges in the future.
The conference will discuss the key achievements and progress made by the Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff (HQIDS), which will also make presentations on major achievements and contemporary issues of the Services and its implications.
The government is yet to take a view on the creation of a Chief of Defence Staff, a recommendation that has been on hold for nearly a decade.
