UK seeks to boost defence ties with India

London, Sep 28 (PTI) India and the UK are set to boost defence ties with British Defence Secretary Bob Ainsworth planning to undertake a key visit to New Delhi soon.

Britain has said there is tremendous scope for strengthening defence cooperation between India and the UK.

"India is growing in importance economically and politically. There is a partnership growing between Britain and India and there is a very, very significant opportunity out there to forge defence cooperation," Ainsworth said.

Speaking at the 'Labour Friends of India' reception, which was also attended by the British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, Ainsworth said he planned to visit India soon.

Indian High Commissioner Nalin Surie underlined the growing "strategic partnership" between the two countries.

I think the Typhoon is the next in line for evaluation. So he is coming to town.

But no, UK and India have had a good relations over the years inspite of the fact that they colonized us. They support us openly for the UNSC.
Our defense procurement before we moved to the Russians was heavily depended on the UK. The pride of our Navy INS Viraat, is ex Royal Navy. The Jags were the only delivery platform for nukes for a long till our missiles came around.

We have a huge diaspora there and all in all, we have good relations with the UK.

not long ago they used to prick india the wrong way particularly wrt j&k. they used to behave like the guardians of both india and pakistan, a legacy they thought they were entitled to inspite of good relations. but with india slowly colonising UK, in an economic sense, their spirit has vanished in thin air. with india on the move they are falling in line.
