Two bomb shells of 1971-war recovered in Poonch

Jammu, Dec 21 (PTI) Army troops have recovered two big bombs dating back to 1971 Indo-Pak war in Poonch border district of Jammu and Kashmir, police officials said here today.

A farmer was cutting a tree near his fields, when he found a big shell in forward area of Dara Duliyan in Poonch district yesterday and informed the army camp, they said.

Army pressed its sniffer dog squad into services and dug out two big bombs used by the Air Force during the war, they said, adding that fuses of the two bombs of 1971 vintage were removed.

They believe that the two bombs had sunk into the hilly belt after being dropped during the 1971 war in the area and did not explode, they said, adding that experts from Indian Air Force will flew to the area to inspect it.
