another major project is THE UMTAS ANTI-TANK MISSILE

UMTAS (Uzun Menzilli Tanksavar Sistemi) is a long range air-to-surface anti-tank missile developed by Turkish weapons manufacturer Roketsan[1]. UMTAS program was initiated in 2005 by Turkey's Undersecretariat of the Defence Industry, specifically to provide TAI T-129 ATAK combat helicopters with an indigenously produced guided missile. UMTAS missile features fire and forget infrared guidance and a tandem anti-armor warhead. It is capable of engaging targets at 8 kilometers. Roketsan is also planning to produce versions of the missile that can be land vehicle-launched and intends to offer the UMTAS for export.

It is envisaged that the UMTAS missile will exceed the performance of the US made Hellfire missile and also the Israeli Spike-ER missiles.

FINAL STEPS FOR 2.75" SEMI ACTIVE LASER GUIDED MISSILE

ROKETSAN Missiles Inc. have completed the design verification phase of its 2.75" Semi Active Laser Guided Missile, CIRIT, after the successful execution of the firing tests performed recently. Primarily developed to be used on the T129 Attack helicopter of the Turkish Armed Forces, CIRIT is an Air-to-Ground missile with 8 km range, filling the gap between the unguided rockets of the same caliber and the expensive anti-armor systems with its cost efficiency and high precision.

During the static and dynamic tests performed until now, many different test scenarios have been executed with success, including firing from moving helicopters against moving targets. The performance of the live warhead against armored targets have also been proved with these tests. AH-1W helicopters were used during these tests as the firing platform.

After completing the qualification of the production line, the missile will be ready for series production in 2010. (gotten from roketsan.com.tr)

SOM-A, SOM-B1, SOM-B2 and SOM-J are a family of stand-off air to ground missiles that have been produced by TÜBITAK SAGE to be used against ground and sea targets.

Country flag
By and large Turkey gets technology/components from Western countries, Germany being a big supplier.

Turkey is a frontman in West's fight against Russia.
