Edit2: Now 22.8 omg .
Makes it 4%+ single day decline! And it's not over yet.

The Turkish lira fell to a new record low on 23 June following yesterday’s 6.5 percent rate hike by the central bank, Reuters reported.

The significant rate hike, which reversed President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s previous unorthodox monetary policy, fell short of market expectations, leading to the lira’s 2.8 percent crash today.

At its lowest point in early trading, the lira had lost 27 percent against the dollar since the beginning of the year.

Turkiye’s central bank raised its key rate by a full 6.5 percent to 15 percent on Thursday, 22 June, in hopes of taming inflation. Still, analysts had expected new central bank governor Hafize Gaye Erkan to raise rates to roughly 21 percent.

The interest rate hike marked a reversal of years of monetary easing. Erdogan cut interest rates to 8.5% from 19% in 2021 in hopes of spurring domestic production and exports, but his unorthodox policy saw inflation in the Turkish economy accelerate to record levels.

Annual inflation fell to 40 percent in May after reaching a 24-year high of over 85 percent in October last year.

Looks like they aren't happy with the land gained in Syria, they want Greek islands also :bplease:

Apparently this ship has 786% pure Türk weapons and electronics, because they learnt their lesson once the Star-Spangled jew threw their ass out of the F-35 program for purchasing S400. :megusta:

Herr Doggy wants to get into EU at any cost, going as far as blocking Sweden from joining NATO. Americans need to put their foot down and bypass this annoying bunch, not giving them any opportunity to salvage their sinking economy.

In the end Erdogan is gonna get bamboozled he will approve Sweden's NATO membership and EU will drag Turkish membership as much as it can and in the end scuttle it.You can't expect much from a wannabe Khalifa state run by a watermelon seller

I've added a pic of the smiling Khilafa.
He's probably the world's only right-wing leader who is ok with foreigners replacing his people just because ummah-cummah votes
Those Syrians , Iraqis etc who've not been pushed into Europe as was / is his plan to blackmail EU , can & will be pushed back into their respective countries of origin. He has the muscle power to ensure that & what's more if busybodies like the EU react , he can always direct the flow there . He holds the aces here & the EU are suffering the consequences of the myopic policies of the US + NATO.

Bruh Erdogan has cornered himself and taken more Ls.He is more myopic and ponders to his Islamists voters so that they will vote for him and in the end he sacrifices turkeys future. That whole migrant balckmail is more of a hot air/musings of the AKP party.Turkey hasn't received migrants in large numbers since they occupied Syrian lands as buffer.most of them have settled in turkey and even if he does his market Walla tactics he has to remember that now he can't do his usual wooing Russia to get NATO scared.he pissed the Russians and the US .Greece is now getting F35s when the whole f16 jumla has been running for more than 3 years and also there is a large anti turk movement in Congress. The only card Turkey has is it's Bhosphorus straits card.

You seriously think with both Greece & Turkey in NATO they're going to war ? I've a bridge to sell you then.

Regarding pissing off both the US & Russia , there's something called respect for nuisance value . That's what Paxtan is on our neighborhood & that's the role Turkey's playing in theirs.

You yourself have confirmed my line of argument when you stated that Turkey controls a portion of Northern coastal & possibly eastern Syria. If push comes to shove what or who do you think would prevent him from mass deporting them ?
