Its because sports is never considered as a career choice for middle class in india which is why only poor or the rich focuses on sports but real majority is missed most of schools especially convents and english schools or other private and government school lacks facilities only folks with links to sportsperson or living near to stadium approach for sports and majority of them opt for cricket due to money, In india only a career in cricket, bollywood or upsc can change your life in a moment which need to be changed.

There is also a space constraint in big cities.
Indian sports land to population ratio is very one sided in urban areas and the rural ones don't have enough investment. Unlike China who has made a stadium in Evey town we don't have any infra. Chinese coaches get paid by the gov to train kids, there is huge pressure on the coaches to present result and they train kids that way too.

If the same to be done in India what would happen.
>Sporting commission gets established
>Gov releases fund
>IAS Babu who has done BsC Zoology/political science arts/History head's the department.
>25% Coach seat for OBC 25% for SC/ST and 10% EWS Jai Beam.
>with the blessing of politician IAS Babus and his smuchks together with coaches begin to swindle money.
>Projects gets passed, thekedar, Politicians and Babus start doing ayashi Ka Nanga.
>Shameless Mudi comes for photoshoots ever so often.
>"Mitroo khai piyenge babu thabhi to age badhe ge babu, I lov babus"
>Shameless banner of Monkeys clap away, media goes full gaga, "Mudi ji ne to gold medal humare Gando me pel Di"

I guess it's working style of govt and people that's why we are still in rule of British Raj even though we proclaim to be free.

Doesn't matter. I'm not talking about his personal life from police personal to army man to brightest athletes to prime minister we can find every which have done crimes and were publicly shamed for them. Sushil lost the respect and government job and name at the high table.

But his legacy of being amazing wrestler will exist.

Top level facilities is only for higher class people in society who have plenty of other options and they represent a very miniscule population of india .They lack psychological conditioning to achieve ...
Real democracy in sports has not been established in india .. Talents in backward / rural areas or tribal belts either dnt grow to their potentials due to lack of opportunity or lack of nutrition .

My friend a primary school teacher tells me abt midday meal scheme . State govt provides 1 egg twice a week . Girls make group of 5 .. So on egg day one girl takes all the 5 eggs so that in her family everyone eats egg that day .. Next week another girl in the group ll take all 5 eggs and like that..
( few years back it was only rice + dal ) .. where there is akhyapatra they dnt even provide eggs .. milk given thrice a week as i have seen in documentary but i doubt there is proper quality check on how much water us added to it .
Now compare it to japanese midday meal

Does it really matter who wins medals in these meaningless sports? Its just for entertainment of masses. Having more medals or less means nothing. We as a country should concentrate our resources on more relevant issues.
True. We have many much more pressing needs to address.

At the end of the day, it's just another d*** measuring contest for rich countries. They keep adding more and more sports they're good at to the Olympics, pushing greater resources into sports just to pile on ever greater medals. Meanwhile, the average American looks like a sack of potatoes.

Its not wrong on taking action against underperforming athletes.
These olympic athletes are getting top of line support and money from Sports Ministry.
They oftne perform great in World Championships but suddenly fails at Olympics.
P Sai lost to Israeli badminton player, Sania and Ankita Raina lost in 1st round in tennis, The World Champion and many time World No 1 Deepika Kumari lost once again in Olympics! Vikas Yadav lost.
many more such cases.
They need to be made accountable as these players will go on to join coaching staff getting crores in annual salary later on.

Well this is not true do you know about USSR vs USA Rivalry in olympics? How they went to extreme methods of using Peds? They went to extremes to hold a superiority and to create a mental image of strong soviets. Strong Russians Chinese invested billions to develop sports infrastructure soo that world can change their point of view of Chinese from being small tiny eyes kids to snatch and jerk champions.
And at a local level sports emphasis general people to develop healthy lifestyle and promote talents. If promoted correctly it can lower our health and care expenditure.

This sounds like poor country like india should not have a space program.

Indian's also need to win in international strong sports to improve the image of being just curry muncher and poverty prone weak ass people.
