Journalist and newsreader Mishal Husain journeys through Mahatma Gandhi early years in India to the end of his controversial career in South Africa. This program is telecasted in BBC around Gandhi Jayanthi year 2009. It's one of the best and reasonable effort to find flaws in Gandhi.

This (VCD-PAL) video presents functions held in India and USA to commemorate the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. It includes an extract in his own voice from a prayer meeting addressed by him, and also talks by former President of India and former First-lady of USA.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak, Mahatma Gandhi, Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, Dr.Babasaheb Ambedkar, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev, Udham Singh, Chandrashekhar Azad, Ashfaqulla Khan, Veer Savarkar.

Great names, great patriots, great souls with one single thought to see their motherland 'India' free and united.
The turmoil, pain, tears, sacrifices, bloodshed which they have experienced physically, mentally and emotionally in getting India independent is something which is immortalized in the annals of Indian history.

Times have changed.
Today, these patriots are no more.
Not only India but the whole world is engulfed in violence, corruption and nuclear turmoil. It is because of these and many more reasons that these patriots even up there in Gods heavenly abode have their souls restless, wanting not only their country but even the world to break away from all the shackles and move towards the path of peace,
non violence, unity and progress.
But not seeing all this happening, their eyes are filled with tears and hands plead to the world citizens to stay united in peace.
We, as citizens of the world should assure all children that they will grow up to hike in the mountains, run in the fields of flowers and have a chance to grow up to live a life of peace and love.
Long live Peace, Unity and humanity.

International Diaspora Film Festival
Film Screenings - 2009
Twenty-one years in the making, this dramatic feature length documentary tells the extraordinary story of Muslim peacemaker, Badshah Khan (aka Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan). Born into Pashtun warrior society, Khan managed to raise a non-violent army of more than 100,000 men, women, and youngsters of various religions as he fought alongside Mahatma Gandhi for India's independence. Shot in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, the U.S. and Canada, this eye-opening film includes remarkably candid interviews with world leaders; rare historical footage; interviews with 72 of Khan's non-violent warriors, all beyond the age of 100 years; a haunting score by world music pioneer David Amram; and a Badshah Khan voice characterization by India's megastar, Om Puri.

Nominated twice for the Nobel Peace Prize, Badshah Khan's epic life and timely story remain little known. He died in 1988 at the age of 98 having spent 35 years in solitary confinement for his efforts to humanize the world he inhabited. His lifelong commitment to social justice, freedom and peace places him in that rarefied pantheon of peace figures that includes Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi. Khan's legacy offers a profound message of hope for these increasingly troubled times.

Director's Biography:
Teri C. McLuhan Teri C. McLuhan is an international award-winning filmmaker, best-selling author, and daughter of Canada's renowned social theorist Marshall McLuhan. She was born in Windsor, Ontario, and raised and educated in Toronto. McLuhan has been a Visiting Scholar at Columbia University and currently resides in New York City. She has written five books on sacred space and the core values of diverse cultures across the planet: Touch the Earth, Portraits from North American Indian Life, Dream Tracks, The Way of the Earth, and Cathedrals of the Spirit. Her films include The Shadow Catcher, a feature length documentary, and The Third Walker, a feature narrative film.

Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan (1890 - 20 January 1988) (Pashto/Urdu: خان عبد الغفار خان, Hindi: ख़ान अब्दुल ग़फ़्फ़ार ख़ान) was a Pashtun political and spiritual leader known for his non-violent opposition to British Rule in India. A lifelong pacifist, a devout Muslim,[1]and a follower of Mahatma Gandhi, he was also known as Badshah Khan (also Bacha Khan, Pashto: lit., "King Khan"), and Sarhaddi Gandhi (Urdu, Hindi lit., "Frontier Gandhi").

Having witnessed the repeated failure of revolts against the British Raj, he decided social activism and reform would be more beneficial for Pashtuns. This ultimately led to the formation of the Khudai Khidmatgar movement (Servants of God). The movement's success triggered a harsh crackdown against him and his supporters and he was sent into exile. It was at this stage in the late 1920's that he formed an alliance with Gandhi and the Indian National Congress. This alliance was to last till the 1947 partition of India.

After partition, Ghaffar Khan was frequently arrested by the Pakistani government in part because of his association with India and his opposition to authoritarian moves by the government. He spent much of the 1960's and 1970's either in jail or in exile.

In 1985 he was nominated for the Nobel peace prize. In 1987 he became the first person not holding the citizenship of India to be awarded the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award. In 1988 on his passing, he was buried in Jalalabad, despite the heavy fighting at the time, both sides in the Afghan war declared a ceasefire to allow his burial.

A quote from Bacha Khan read by Mariam Jaan followed by her poem: "Just a dream" What would Bacha say if he were still alive today I'm sure his heart would be filled with dismay For our miserable state we have only ourselves to blame After all these years we Pashtuns are still the same Instead of taking care of each other and finally uniting we ignore our poor Pashtuns and keep on fighting Such great things Pashtuns could have achieved as a team But it seems to me that will always remain just a dream For our sake, I hope and pray to God all mighty that I am wrong nothing will make me happier than seeing us united and strong

A tribute to the greatest leader of Pashtuns, and a non-violent peaceful fighter for the Muslim's of the Sub-continent against the British rule. One of the greatest role models in the history of Pakistan. A firm devotee of Islam and a follower of the Prophet Muhammad(S.A.W), Abdul Ghaffar Khan used non-violent and peaceful tactics to contribute to the freedom of the Muslims of the sub-continent. He spent all his life serving humanity in the name of Allah. A great inspiring leader and a perfect role model to follow in todays age of chaos!
