Kalshang Dolma Rangeard
Paris, May 2 - For the first time ever, a Tibetan woman has decided to contest in the forthcoming European elections. Kalshang Dolma Rangeard, 41, a French-Tibetan woman from Bordeaux has been selected as a candidate from South-West France in the forthcoming European elections. The European Green Party is a transnational political party having as its member Green parties from European countries.
With the support of the Tibetan Community of France and Green Party of France, Kalshang who has been living in France since 1991 and is the founder and the Honorary President of Tashi Delek Association of Bordeaux, will be participating in various conferences in France and in Holland in May.
“As a Tibet activist, the main motive of my accepting Green Party's candidature is to be able to represent Tibet. That is the reason I am on the list,” Kalshang said.
Kalshang, whose parents fled Tibet after the Chinese invasion, was born in Kalimpong, India, and studied in Orissa and Darjeeling. She worked for over two years at the Office of Tibet, Kathmandu before moving to France in 1991. Today she is married to a French man and lives in Bordeaux, France.
The list from the region is led by Mr. Jose Bove, a farmer and an activists, who was one of the twelve official candidates for the French presidential elections in 2007. :d_training:
