BEIJING: A senior Chinese official on Wednesday said that extremist groups in Xinjiang province have "thousand and one links" with Taliban forces in Pakistan. The statement comes at a time when Pakistan is trying hard to convince Beijing that it won't allow export of extremism across the border.

"We have discovered some East Turkestan activists and terrorists from our neighboring country have countless links," said Nur Bekri, governor of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region at a press conference on the sidelines of the Chinese parliament's annual meeting.

Bekri, who regularly meets visiting Pakistani leaders - he met president Asif Ali Zardari during his last visit - also said there is a vast difference between what Islamabad has been saying and the situation on the ground in Xinjiang.

Zardari had rushed to Xinjiang last year after officials in the border town of Kashgar had said they had found the people involved in rioting were connected with terrorists in Pakistan. He had also visited Chinese leaders in Beijing in a desperate attempt to save ties from serious damage.

"Officials, especially in Pakistan, have said over and over again that they oppose violent activities directed against China," Bekri said, adding, "We have certainly discovered that East Turkestan activists and terrorists in our neighboring states have a thousand and one links."

The comment is a departure from the regular Chinese foreign ministry refrain that says Pakistan has contributed much to battle terrorism and appreciates the efforts it has made. But Bekri seemed to suggest that Islamabad should do more to curb the export of terrorism to Xinjiang. India and Afghanistan, too, have blamed Islamabad for failure to act against the export of terrorism to other countries.

'Self-immolaters are criminals guided by Dalai'

The Chinese officials on Wednesday said that the Tibetans committing suicides were criminals and mentally ill, manipulated by the Dalai Lama. Police investigations have shown that a spate of self-immolation in recent months were orchestrated by forces based overseas, the officials added. "To encourage self-immolation , they even offer a compensation for the dead. This proves that self-immolations are pre-meditated political moves," said Wu Zegang, chief of Aba Tibetan-Qiang autonomous prefecture of Sichuan province, the scene of most suicides. "Some suicides are committed by clerics returning to normal life, and they all have criminal records. They have a bad reputation in society," Wu said.

We told our Chinese friends that paki dog will eat the hand which feeds them. But as usual they were in denial. Any way Karma is such a female dog.

Are the Chinese blaming the Pakistanis outrightly? I think no.

China has insisted that Pakistan needs to do more to curb the terror coming from Pakistan, but has never blamed them. China on the contrary empathises with the Pakistanis that they themselves are a victim, only that they need to do more.

Though Chinese talking about the issue a little too often in public should cause an alarm in Pakistan. Do we see gen Pasha head to China immediately? Quite possible. Will China commit its troops in the north-west, like in Northern Areas? Now this is something to watch out for.

Ritesh, it is like Chinese begging to pakis for the help. Why this generous use of word "asking". Right now Chinese balls are in paki hands, they will milk the Chinese like they have done to the US for all these years. I suspect that a major teror attack on Chinese soil in on the way, and after that Chinese will dole out more money and arms to the pakis.

Exactly, the last thing they want is adding fuel to fire. They wouldn't want is that this separatist movement gaining more teeth. They know they cant spoil their relations with Pak cause it is a gateway to them for middle-east and US has still not left. Pak like always will milk them out. Gotta give some credit to pakis, they are quite cunning.

Nitesh,

If the chinese would have been begging, they would not have been allowed in Northern Areas, but kept out as the Americans have been. It is US which is begging, China is seeking cooperation, and Pakistan is a willing partner.

Pakistan's geographic location and size necessitate it to have cordial relations with either China or the US at any given time, they cant afford to offend both of them at the same time. Let us not over look the fact that the same TTP, which the Chinese also accuse of being in connivance with chaps from east turkestan, is seen as doing terror attacks against Pakistan as well, so things aren't as much in control of the Pakistanis. What we have to also realize, the moment China said go after the lal masjid chaps, the PA under musharraf immediately went ahead and attacked them.

I doubt Sino-Pak relationship can be equated to US-Pak relations. Both China and Pakistan have a common enemy in us, and both need each other to contain us. That said, there is no doubt China will handout the freebies because they want Pakistan to be their bitch, and Pakistani elites have always been willing to deliver the services as desired at the right price.

CCP isn't a democracy to endlessly and uselessly debate or aiming for local votebanks by appeasing sections of their society those that threaten their interests, man. That's where they are smarter and more nationally conscious than us.

The day CCP feels that things are crossing the line, they will themselves invade Pakistan.

Like they were from their birth with US? Pakis will sleep with any one who offers arms and money to fight India. The point is what happens after you sleep with a whore without protection, you get the disease. That is what is happening now.

These are are under terrorists in uniform (PA), the top dog in terrorism is losing control of other dogs it is as simple as that, or they are selectively asking other dogs to pain the master so that more doles can be taken. You example of Lal masjid does not hold grounds, as after US kicked them, they came in support for US too, the point is what happens after that. The killing of US soldiers and Chinese people go on unstopped, and Chinese/US begging pakis to stop that.

You are partially correct here, China is also missing what SU was missing a port like Gwadar to have a foot in to the Indian Ocean, and it is never going to have a base there. Also why you look China always from position fo strength, I see them squealing to pakis to save there sorry a$$ from the solid whopping it is getting by the terrorists like US does

Tshering, I hope that your wish comes true, that day will be the day Chiense will be nuked by Chinese nukes.
