Give up what? Prosperity? Development? Taiwanese began contributing to China ever since China opened after Nixon. The deal was ALWAYS no war unless they declared independence and that hasn't changed since 1971.

This is the big difference between East and South Asia, I think. TSMC was providing Huawei with chips until Trump went after them specifically and now Mediatek is picking up the slack.

Indians do not understand how much Taiwan (and Korea and Japan) work with China to ensure growth despite the hate from the West. Even during Trump's trade war and the pandemic, China's economy ran smoothly because East Asia is integrated.

There are many Taiwanese, including most of its industrial and wealthy class, who are pro-China. Indians must think Taiwan and China is like Pakistan and India. But that is the furthest thing from the truth. Taiwanese are one of the engines for China growth and transformation. Even during the American tech war against China, Taiwanese firms are helping to keep China tech ecosystem running.
