Why would Taiwan that has a better, freer, more open, more prosperous, cleaner, more innovative society want to merge with a bunch of paranoid CCP despots ? What’s the upside ?

You would have to be freaking nuts. The Taiwanese are rich enough and have world class leading industrial base. Why would they abandon their independence and freedom to merge with China.

All they have to do is fly to Hong Kong and ask the Hong Kong Chinese how they feel about reunification.

I don't know how accurate that survey is, but even 20% of the population can make a big difference in case of a military conflict. and China is surely not in a hurry to take back Taiwan, since Taiwan's official name is still" Republic of China". What China is doing now is making Taiwan economically more and more dependent on China and get as more as Taiwan talents to work in the mainland by offering better pays and opportunities, going down this path, China can take back Taiwan without firing a single shot in 10-20 years.

Doklam is not your territory , its Bhutanese land. Thats why u dont see Indian flag. While security of Bhutan is Indias responsibility.
To become a superpower u first need to solve all your neighborhood disputes , look at US their neighbourhood is peaceful
