^^ Long story short
Why Russia Loves Arab Tyrants?
The same reason the US loves the opposing group of Arab Tyrants and Sheiks of UAE, Bahrain etc.
Strategic depth and Arms Export.

The US better stop its holier-than-thou attitude before it is too late.

Read that Bhagavat Gita and then the Vedas.
What we stood for and still stand for were written thousands of years ago.
I liked the part about us Anglo-Saxons wandering half-naked in the forests in the original post. :)

Heres what we stand for Foreign Policy | The White House, I am curious what does India stand for.
Have you ever wondered or asked yourself why USA has taken leading role as a passive or active role in most of the conflicts around the world post second world war? This so called Arab Spring did not start without the planning done by vested interest whoever that might be and its sole purpose was to take the uprising slowly but steadily into the heart of Syria to provoke Iran in order to engulf the region with sectarian violence and they have succeeded to greater extent. The second main objective of Arab Spring when I look in the hindsight was to move the Al-Queda in the backyards of nations who have been busy funding their activities in other parts of the world. This will also help Russia and China in the long run as they have less to fear from anti national activities of their Muslim population.

Whether it is morally wrong or right is not for me to decide but it makes strategic sense given that we have not achieved much of success in fighting the Al-Queda which if not eliminated from the nuclear state Pakistan and Afghanistan will most likely than not get hold of the ultimate weapon which has dodged them so far.

NATO led by USA, Russia and China are waiting for Iran to join the Syrian President Assad to save him from his ultimate fate if that happens the GCC nations are not going to sit back and let the situation slide against them. In this equation we should not count Iraq out of it as they have majority Shia's population and they will be forced to be in the Syria-Iran-Hezbollah camp. The middle East could go up in flames which they have not experienced to this day, it is not the fault of outside forces but their own which has in the making post gaining the independence from their colonial rulers.

I doubt if this is kind of conspiracy, though I wonder if getting rid of Saddam did not encourage it... Countries in the middle east seem to be in support of this upriseing as much as anyone.......These people were killing each other befor the were colonys and I am sure they will be killing each other for generations to come.

As always look for the money trail... This Arab spring should have money trails. If one can follow it then we'll know who is the brain or brains behind it. One hint, there's been a fairly recent upsurge in pro-democracy NGOs supported by the West in Arab countries. Russia is desperately trying to control them in its own backyard...

Syrian Army buying more socks

Back in the sock factory, Xu says 73 clothing firms have gone under this year, with some leaving behind debts of billions of yuan. Things have not been so bad since 2003, when foreign buyers stayed away because of the Sars crisis. Usually Xu goes to the US once a year; this time, he has made three trips – but one major customer halved its usual $5m order anyway. Sales to civilian customers are down by at least a fifth.

It is a sign of the times that his firm, Huazhong, considers the boom in sales to the Syrian army as a rare bright spot. "Last year they bought 870,000 pairs. This year it's 960,000 already," he says. Few might imagine that camouflage or khaki ribbed socks came in so many varieties, but French, Singaporean and Saudi Arabian soldiers have proved exacting customers.

Sock City's decline may reveal an unravelling in China's economy | Business | The Observer

It started with Woodrow Wilson, I believe.

You have the right to disagree with my assessment of the events but the time will prove whether or not these kind of deal making goes on in the world of power hungry rulers. As you have stated their past tells what future holds for them I also see at least one to two new countries being carved out of the region. One of them will be Kurdistan in order to weaken Turkey, Iraq and Syria and Iran geographically. Due to the crisis in Syria the relationship between Turkey and Syria which were in mend have turned southwards once again. The latest salvo from the NATO-USA alliance is breaking off the Diplomatic relationship between Canada and Iran which will most likely be followed by other nations and that in turn set a stage for Iran getting involved in Syria to protect President Assad.

I will not call them conspiracy but rather a strategic planning being implemented in the wake of nuclear weapons in the hands of one to two failed states which I need not name here as it is obvious from the numbers stated. Can rest of the world afford to sit back and do nothing till something of catastrophic scale takes place, I don't think so? While the Arab nations are busy fighting their neighbours it will create the opportunity for NATO-USA-Russia-China-India to work on the ultimate goal of theirs if you follow the Geo politics closely than one should be able to guess it as to what I am talking about.

The world leaders keep naming Iran as a threat to the world peace where as a failed state which has produced largest number of terrorist in the number. Let us see how the events unfold.

PARIS: Defected Syrian general Manaf Tlass said Monday that French secret agents helped him escape from Syria, where he had long been a member of President Bashar al-Assad's inner circle.

"The French (intelligence) services helped me get out of Syria and I thank them for that," Tlass, whose July 6 defection was hailed in the West as a major setback for Assad, told France's BFM television news channel.

A general in the elite Republican Guard charged with protecting the regime, Tlass is the son of former defence minister Mustafa Tlass, a close friend of Assad's late father and predecessor, Hafez al-Assad.

Syria: Christians take up arms for first time

Christian communities in Aleppo have taken up arms and formed their own militias for the first time, the Daily Telegraph can disclose.

The Christian community has tried to avoid taking sides in the civil war. In Aleppo, it recruited vigilantes from the Boy Scout movement to protect churches, but as the war moved into the city and spread across its suburbs they have begun to accept weapons from the Syrian army and joined forces with Armenian groups to repel opposition guerrillas.

For the past six weeks up to 150 Christian and Armenian fighters have been fighting to prevent Free Syrian Army rebels from entering Christian heartland areas of Aleppo.
