Yes they are and about 500 times more expensive, oh and a lot easier to hit with a stinger
That's NATO propaganda. Most of the Stingers used in the Soviet Mujahideen War actually failed. The success rate was about 30% IIRC. Also, most of the helicopters shot down were Mil-17, not Mil-24/35.

Still cheaper than organizing the olympics ceremony and not to mention andy carroll

:truestory:
Why did you mention him then? All this anti-Brit nonsense, admit it, you secretly wish you'd been born in England don't you

$32M is a lot of money in anyone's books . Enough to arm and equip an army that'd take on Syria's easily. Keeping it going afterwards is another matter.

Whose victory?

You may perceive that people in this board follow the Russian narrative, I for one, do not want to see chemical weapons in the hands of the Al-Qaida.

You should pray for whatever outcome that best quits the needs of your people.
I want the outcome that best suits the world frankly which is neither Assad or AQ.

So? 30% easier to hit than a man in a parachute?

I've read the thread thanks and know about ManPADS.

Stop letting your bias shine through, it would be a lot easier to debate :)

Stinger is a MANPAD - FYI. So is Igla.

So you're saying a helicopter capable of parachuting-007-into-the-stadium is more useful than a Mil-24/35 that can withstand point blank range 12.7 mm machine gun fire, launch havoc on armour from it's 57mm rocket pods, and fly at speeds comparable to that of planes, and also pack the potential to shoot down fighter jets?

He considered, and backed off. He is a joke, and commands no respect, both within the UK, and without.

Do petition him to do that next time. I'd really love to see the Bear thoroughly annoyed and putting tiny island nations where they belong. No offense, but Cameron's threats aren't commensurate with his country's size, economy, or potential; but I admit he is better than Miliband.

Egg sucking again?

Who said anything about a heli parachuting Bond in? You said about parachuting and quipping about the Olympics.

The point I made was that it's a lot easier to hit a helicopter whether it's MI28, MI24 or even AH64 than it is a man in a parachute. You have nothing to lock onto and the missile would go through the 'chute. A heli is also far more expensive ie you could get loads of blokes in 'chutes for one heli.

Come on, you're just jumping at things now. Look at the posts and responses.

Lanch havoc? Is it Henry the fifth?

You all do love those 'tiny island' comments ;) Should i call you a 'big sub continent?' It's the bias that shines through time and again.

Much as I hate to say, he's the best of a bad bunch and if they were ordered to go, they would. I'd personally love to see it happen. Just to see Putin do a Kruschev and bang his shoe and bluster, but secretly thinking 'bollox, they got me' :)

Oh well, it went all over you. Never mind. This is what I was referring to: The Queen and James Bond parachute into Olympics video released: Watch it here - Hartford Pop Culture | Examiner.com

EU wouldn't dare touch a Russian ship. Mostly cut-off, yes; hardly cut-off, no
They don't need to as long as they deny them port access. Considering the expenditure and loss of equipment, the stream isn't enough to keep it up.

. Any ideas why the rebels have run out of ammunition?
They haven't run out, they are just low and probably play it up worse than it is to get more international aid. They don't have trucks running guns, they have to haul it in over the border.

Ok, I'll say 'large island' from now on, if that is what you want. :p

In the foreseeable future, I see Russian ships travelling the seas of Europe unmolested. Even the US Navy didn't dare do silly tactics during the Russo-Georgian War.

I hope Russia sends in more weapons to the Syrian government.

They are low on ammo, true, so I stand corrected on that. Rest, we'll have to wait for more info to trickle in.

Nope, I like the 'tiny island' quips. Makes me realise again how that 'tiny island' ruled so much of the world

Whose warning Georgia not to join NATO? Article 5, here we come, wohoo! Poking the bear again. This time they'll just be suburbs rather than going back to countries ;)

I hope Russia sends in more weapons to the Syrian government.
It's just prolonging the inevitable .........
