the Second Lanzhou-Urumqi railway is to be constructed. the railway is 1776-KM long and cross three provinces: Gansu,Qinhai and Xinjiang.

the designed speed of the railway is 200 KM/per hour. the speed of some sections can be 250 KM/per hour.

the total investment is 143.5 billion RMB(about 2.5 billion USD) .

the railway is to be finished in 5 years.

Now, it takes people 40 hours to go to Urumqi from Beijing on trains. But after the railway is finished, it will take only 12 hours to go to Urumqi from Beijing on trains.

After the Second Lanzhou-Urumqi railway is finished, the current first Lanzhou-Urumqi railway will become speical freight railway

全长1776公里，共设31个车站。其中甘肃境内795公里，青海境内268公里，新疆境内713公里。线路为Ⅰ级双线，设计时速为200公里/小时，兰州至西宁段和哈密至乌鲁木齐段线下预留提速为250公里/小时。项目投资估算总额1435亿元，建设工期5年。届时，北京至乌鲁木齐将由现在的40小时缩短为12小时左右,列车可实现夕发朝至

after 1997 asia financial crisis, Chinese government also used stimulus package to invest on lots of expressways. after asia fianaical crisis ended, CHina has global second longest expressways.


now, after the current economy crisis ends, China will have global longest high-speed railways.
