Morcha plans own ‘army’

Darjeeling, Sept. 13: The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha will raise a “guerrilla” force to “protect the country’s frontiers” in case of a Chinese aggression, Bimal Gurung said today.

“I’m informing the government of this (through the speech) because it must provide the arms training,” the Morcha chief said. Another leader claimed that the hill outfit had “borrowed the idea from the people of Ladakh who had formed volunteer forces when Pakistan had invaded India”.

Gurung said the 500-strong force would be named after Durga Malla — a member of Subhas Chandra Bose’s INA.

Who will be in command? Thanks but no thanks. Appreciate your spirit, you will be called upon if required in times of war. We dint need any unnecessary trouble out there. It would be great if you can work towards being the eyes and ears out there on the border.

Join the Indian Army. We already salute those Gurkhas who joined the Indian Army after 1947.

Heck, we already have Salwa Judum and CPI(M) armies, thanks to the blessings of the Home Ministry? Now a Gurkha army? Are we going to rely on unconstitutional and mercenary armies to protect ourselves?

Good Lord!

This gurialla army can be easily misused against India in future and any plans should be sabotaged in the beginning .In coming days Demands of GJM and like minded parties will increase and this movement will take violent turn at any point of time.

Want to protect India? Join the Indian army. If you wish you may request to your brethren in Gurkha regiment who have done a stellar job in there. Volunteer for special operation missions inside Pakistan, Pakistan occupied Kashmir, China and Chinese occupied Tibet. I'm sure all right thinking Indians will eulogise and appreciate your efforts and contributions.

An unauthorised Guerrilla force? Nope.

Didn't the GJM actually demand independence from India not so long ago.

Let's hope Mamata Banerjee nips this in the bud and doesn't allow them to grow into a potent force.

There are better options for them, they can join the Gorkha regiment or some other paramilitary force, but an unregulated army is not required at all ! We already are dealing with numerous such problems with the Maoists and North East factions, we don't need any more.
