Why??

You can tell they are Indians, and there isnt a lot of hardcore Indo-American airsofters that go to that extant.

why replace it...its a weapon of choice of every soldier...plus there are not much alternatives which matches with bren in case of its firepower ,mobility and reliability...if age is a factor considered to replace a weapon then much older M2 brownings are still in US army

Why??

The message you have entered is too short...blah blah blah
Coz it suits our doctrine, In Indian Army the idea of LMG is lighter, Unlike in many Army you will find belt fed, You will find none in Indian Regular Army, The Idea is when assulting it should be light enough to fire on move, For static position MMG which is FN-MAG ( LMG in other armys including British Army )...

Israeli understand this necessity and worked on Negav now Negavs are capable of using both Mag and Belt fed..

Also as new developments, you can notice RR troopers using captured PKM as its now proving the need for Belt fed L.M.G..

PS. I love it coz its fun to fire and it got a hard hitter 7.62nato..

Dont you also think Bren is too heavy? At like 24 pounds?

Something like the Negev would be a great replacement. Or make INSAS LMG belt fed.

Bren is 8kg with ammo, some thing which is very light..

What is needed in Indian Army is to have a Insas LMG based LMG capable of taking Mag also Belt..

negev is having less punching power as compared to bren ....plus belt fed machine guns are susceptible to jamming in desearts and muddy areas due to accumulation of dust in open ammo bets...if IA is going for a belt fed machine gun then it should be either PKM or FN MAG with bipood..coz both are reliable and have lot of fire power...or we should carry both insas lmg and a belt fed machine gun in a squad as armies of russia and US are doing..

In that case..

My view is to have Insas LMG is fine but to have a PKM or FN-MAG as heavy duty true suppresive LMG..

in an old pic i had seen many RPDs in the arsenal of BSF...may be they were captured ones..if given among Paara military troops it would be a nice step coz M43 ammo is in pleanty among troops plus they too are not much bulky....

you don't understand Israeli "order of battle" we us Negev as a squad automatic in rifleman platoons
in heavy weapons platoon m2 browning and FN mag are used
in each infantry battalion 2-3 rifleman platoons and 1 heavy weapons platoon
(HMG+sniper + mortar+light at weapons )
