Which is better AK 203 or Sig716
Both good enough for their purposes... I don't know what these guys will get.
With the carbine deal botched up, I have a feeling that they will end up getting both issued as battle-rifle & support-carbine!

Poor Mericans have to use the INSAS
Saw a video on YouTube of an American Soldier firing Insas & commenting (the owner is literally standing beside him though :biggrin2:):
Apparently the chap likes the feel of it. Are there other issues with a gun itself, other than the quality & unaddressed teething problems?

I remember this......but as far as i know even a single 1C wasn't bought by the Army, because nobody bothered with upgrade plans a decade ago.
Nor were the older ones given basic features like FAB modded AKs. So they are still using the shabby shit, with orange furniture.

Which AR Americans use???
And when are we going to dump that shit Insas???
They have M4 carbine as their standard issued. But they are also planning to replace. Trying to experiment with new 6.8mm round.

Production of AK 203 will commence by the year end and first batch of SIG716s is expected to reach at the same time. Issuing of AR of regular infantry & RR Jawan varies from regiment to battalion level. So don't worry about the Joint Exercises & reserved troops.
I can assure you that front line troops are way better equipped ( Almost as our SFs ). A lot of modifications done after Pulwama-Balakot & removal of 370. It's matter of few months and it will be a final goodbye to INSAS.

So we have deployed T90s in Ladakh, good. Last reported was that T72s were deployed. Chinese will have to now face some serious armor.

The insas had alot of issues with the length of Barrell and the ammo. The 1C was deemed an increment too late with limited further upgrade path. Made little sense to invest int he 1C and then look for another rifle in the short period of time.

(This ofcourse has nothing to do with the bungled small arms procurement process)

Absolutely understandable, they started to develop in 2015 what they should have started in 2005! Only when Indian forces felt the need for something, did they ask the PSUs to develop it but by the time R&D was done, either they've waited enough & bought something foreign, or were now asking for newer tech.
This is the biggest problem with PSUs... that they are meant primarily for Indian forces but the two still have a developer-user relation instead of a partnership.

Only if the PSUs stop waiting for requirements from them & start thinking of ahead will they catch up. LCH is a good example... that's why it's important to enter the export market.
