Ever catch this show.

The dramatizations are somewhat childish, fanboyish is my take, but the simulation engine seems to be somewhat 'scientific'.

The 'Deadliest Warrior' is a television program on Spike TV in which information on historical or modern warriors and their weapons are used to determine which of them is the "deadliest" based upon tests performed during each episode. The show is characterized by its use of the data compiled in creating a dramatization of the warriors' battle to the death.

Episodes begin with the introduction of either two types of historical or contemporary warriors, or two historical individuals. The history, culture, and general fighting philosophies of each are explained. The explanations are accompanied by segments showing actors performing dramatized scenes that are meant to depict the daily lives of the actual fighters. Two teams of guests (introduced as 'experts' on the warriors) are brought onto the show to test weapons spotlighted as being used by each of the warriors. Typically, the different weapons are organized into four categories: short range, mid range, long range, and special weapons. However, some episodes (for instance, "Yakuza vs Mafia") have had as many as five categories.

The teams test the assigned weapons on human-shaped, ballistics gel targets. Sometimes, torso-shaped targets are covered with armor that is representative of what would be worn by the weapon's opponent. While the damage inflicted on the armor by the weapon is factored into the weapon's effectiveness, the defensive ability of armor isn't included as a separate category on the show. Natural tissue, particularly pig carcasses and cow bones, are also frequently used as targets. All of the weapon tests are recorded with high speed photography, and the results are fed into a computer that measures the damage each weapon is capable of inflicting. The winner of each weapon category is determined by a combination of the test results, juxtapositions of martial doctrines, and the judgment of the show's ER specialists and commentators.

I'd like this to be a discussion on their weapons, tactics, forms of martial arts and organizational military prowess as well. So feel free to throw it out.

Other dramatizations:

Spartan vs. Samurai

SWAT vs GSG-9

Atilla, the Hun vs. Alexander the Great

I would like to say Spartains were/are just media hype by the Americans. Just read Greek history or even wiki you will reliease Spartains lost much more wars or battle(be it small or big) than they ever won. Its only some hollywood movie like Troy or 300 that show they were the best. I personally don't know much about samuria so i won't comment on them.
As for rajput i would say they were adamant, their failure to identify and accept gunpowder as a deciessive or ground breaking weapon that would change battlefield resulted in their defeat. Rajputs also lacked strategy and ability to take extreme decision. I would personally go for Romans. They were disciplined, united, dynamic, had carefull planning and had strategy before taking any action. All this point can't be said for the Rajput. If required Romans would change their strategy and tatics but same could't be said for the Rajput. A long term war or infact a field battle would be won by Romans it both are fighting with equal capability.
(3) As for Atilla and Alexander, i would say they both would have chopped each other. Neither of them could form an empire. The huns had just one strategy, continous cavalery attack till you over-run your enemy while greek had just one strategy, continous tight formation heavy infrantry a.k.a. Phalax attack till you over-run your enemy.

WoooooH! What do you mean by these days Rajputs are practicing Sikhs or Muslims? Majority of practicing Rajaputs are Hindus! Majority of Sikhs belong to Jat and Khatri communities of Punjab where you will find Hindu roots (yes Rajputs are also present in huge numbers but not in majority e.g Sri. Banda Bahadur (Lachman Dev ) were a Rajput). Do you even know the culture of Rajputs, and what type of life even today they live, be it Regular Shastra Pujan to life with Arms? No doubt Gurkhas are great warriors with Ahoms, Oriyas, Marathas and Jats etc!

Technically there are no castes in Sikhism but yes there are Sikhs of Rajput tribes. Most of the Rajputs imo are Hindus followed by Muslims. Maximum number of Rajputs are in UP, India and Punjab, Pakistan.

Gorkhas claim to be Rajputs too.

There are lots of Muslims Rajputs in Pakistan. Chauhan is a surname used by many communities in North India for eg Gujjars, Jatts, Chamars, Kamboj, Tarkhans etc.; so surnames are not a reliable barometer. Many Sikhs use their village/city name as their surnames too.

1 in 2 Sikh is a Jatt. Banda Bahadur ji was indeed born in Jammu region to a Rajput family.

There are many martial communities in India with a rich heritage.

Anyways, what I meant to say was that this man was obviously using weapons and techniques of Gatka that is a martial art developed by the Sikhs.

PS: Anyone living in a city with a large Sikh population can see this martial art on display by Sikhs / Nihangs during religious processions.

since when did that happen? other than a handful converties most of whom migrated to pakistan at the time of partition, and a few rajputs who are sikh, majority of rajputs are practicing hindus.

you just have to be witness to the heady cocktail it makes of a rajput and indian armed forces, few of the proudest chaps out there in the Indian Army!

Why no mention of Mongols who built the biggest land empire in history, extending from Korea to Central Europe?

What about the south Indian forces remember the nair warriors who eluded the British for many years
They even defeated the British who were armed with gunpowder on various occasions with swords and arrows they even had their own form of martial arts(kalari from which chinese martial arts is believed to have been inspired from)
Surprisingly they almost on almost all the occasions they were severely outnumbered by the British but were still victorious.

The show was a misleading. Like Rajputs were devout a lot of times fanatical Hindus and the time was 900s. Sikhism didnt even exist yet. And Aara(Urumi) wasnt used like with the rajputs or the Chakram..;(

The Romans had the best infantry ever seen in the world until the invention of gunpowder. Period.

Historically, the strength of Indian armies were in huge masses of semi-trained troops and armored war elephants. Outside of martial circles like those of the Rajputs, the strength of the individual Indian soldier on the ancient battlefield accounted for little.

There is a saying that was popular in antiquity: "Turkey is famous for its cavalry, Kandahar for its elephants, and India for its armies"

The rajputs were no doubt one of the bravest. But their divisive ness and infighting cost India a lot.
They were India's first line of defence .

Even when Marathas were smashing the Mughals and Shivaji when requested for an alliance against Aurangzeb, Rajputs didnt help.
