Thales Pairs Up with Russian Systems Firm

PARIS - Thales has deepened links with Russian industry with the signature of a memorandum of partnership and cooperation with the Rostechnologies state corporation, the French defense systems company said Nov. 27.

"The memorandum establishes principles of cooperation between the French and Russian partners, with a particular focus on exchanges and joint use of advanced technologies for both civil and military applications," the company said in a statement.

Thales Chairman and CEO Luc Vigneron signed the document, which has binding force and is closer to an agreement than a memorandum of understanding, a company spokeswoman said.

General Director Sergey Chemezov signed for Rostechnologies, in the presence of Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and French Prime Minister François Fillon. The two prime ministers were meeting in a summit conference.

Rostechnologies is involved in the development, manufacture and export of high-technology goods and raises investments in industry.
