Effectively though a single engined TEDBF= LCA Mk.2, the design may be a bit different but in raw performance and role it is almost identical so it's almost impossible to make a case for a single engined ORCA when LCA MK.2 is a thing

ORCA I think has a 50/50 chance of becoming a thing, they just need to cancel their mad idea of MMRCA 2.0/MRFA. Order 36 more Rafales and then look at ORCA. As it stands TEDBF is going to be almost identical to the Rafale in performance
in raw performance TEDBF design will be far superior!
More Agile
better low speed performance
better transonic performance
Lower radar cross section

in addition to its stealth design a added weapon bay will make it proper 5th gen fighter
&
commonality between TEDBF & it’s single engine variant will make it cheaper as navy is interested in purchasing 100.

single engine variant specs could be
empty weight:- 9tons
fuel :- 4tons
Mt weight. :-21tons
engine thrust:- 130-140kn(Amca derivative engine)

since drdo is working on something similar as mark2 rv I hope they are working on something similar if not better.

tejas mk2 is actually the fighter IAF needed to replace mig21. that’s why they weren’t putting up any order for tejas mk1 or mk1a for a long time. Maybe spoiled brat attitude but this is what it is.

no issues if they do buy orca but it is the time that is against it as it will be ready at the same time or after AMCA is available thus at that time they would prefer bigger AMCA order thus reducing it’s cost.

Pakis will add 100+ fighters yeah that is joke of the decade man their only viable planes are their f16 that 50+ in no and are nearly 30 to 40 years old.then some block 1 (which almost as good as useless) block2 and block3 jf17 and according to me jf17 are less than 200 in no.pakis have to replace j7 which is just mig21 by china some mirages 3 and 5 that are nearly older than our mig21 so they have to replace atleat 250+ fighters.
they will they might not feed their population but they wo spend billions in competing with INDIA in arms race!
that’s why we should make our arsenal bigger in competing they and their economy will be doomed!

They don't have money for both if they had some they would have bought mig35 or su 35 or would have gone for j10 china is willing to sell them and pakistan also needs them the main sticking point little pigs have no money so only thing they can do is go jf17 all they way but still only 135 are in service and servicablity ratio is quite low .so air force should start a china centric approach now

Mk1a fullfill role to replace mig 21 ,mig 27 , jaguar in iaf fleet .

What it can't.do is mig 29 type manuverability but still carry more load that it .

Mk 2 is more of a mirage 2000 replacement , more payload , better range , new AVIONICS , better aerodynamic , more manuverability , lesser maintenance .

Mig 29 can too be replaced by mk 2 , be to be specific , it's really a odd ine out plane in arsenal , we should aim for a mig 35 type specs , which mk 2 gives except manuverability .

If orca ever inducted it would be rafale+ category with higher thrust engine ,it would be more of a eft + rafale combo .

Basically i don't see sense in tedbf being developed in single engine but instead we should look out for loyal wingman now .

At max we should aim for a twin seater mk 2 for mothership role or orca twin seater

They themselves aren’t sure it is true or not, if it had been true then it would have been showcased at Aero India 2021.
yeah no one cross question Dr.Reddy about his comment which make me think even if there is something it’s on the back burner as drdo and ada already got a lot on their plate!

thus maintaining the secrecy coz not even a single journalist did asked him to clarify makes me suspicious!

Its the same as Naval AMCA, an under consideration aircraft which was later ditched. So it might be for economic point of view to save money in making a different single engined FGFA.

Mk1a leaves many important techs required in todays warfare like
integrated ew suit
irst
ng hud
slightly low t/w ratio
mk2 is good platform but compared to f16 block70. We should plan for something better
something to compete with their f35 & j31.
AMCA being better than both the fighters comparable to f22 or any upcoming 6th gen fighter.

With TEDBF design I don’t even see a need for naval amca.
Naval dna would be in its core!!
if they ever need one stealth fighter they can carve a weapons bay and put a stealt/RAM coating on TEDBF.

We don't need all of them in tejas , ew suite is present , just it's not inside , targeting pod is there , irst is not but hud is present , hmds is also present , t/w is good .

Tejas mk 2 is basically comparable to f 16 a/b model is weight comparison , it just need 110 class engine to showcase it's true potential , but it's performance parameters are somewhat low than most advanced variant .

F 16 has very short legs compared to tejas mk 2 , it's combat radius is just about half of tejas mk 2 ,due to its fuel sucking engine ,

Atleast say it’s comparable to &16c/d😂😜
it does have fly by wire system & aesa radar even if it’s gallium arsenide!!
still better than f16a/b.

yes that’s true in its time that was enough but now the fighter has aged and thats why they are looking for replacement so called -5th gen!

Comparing weight and payload not AVIONICS

Most probably he is saying that tedbf can be used for both land and marine role ,so a air force specific version might not be required , also iaf may want it for southern fleet ,due to high fuel capacity and capability to land on ac , it may act as amphibious landing aircraft., Taking off from land , landing on ac , then again take off and landing on Mauritius type base if any other is aquired too
