More of whichever wins MRCBF.

AFAIK, the SH production line will close by 2024 if no new orders are given by US Navy. If that happens (and if SH wins the 26 jets order now) we'll be left to receive 2nd hand USN jets or RAAF's 28 SH (which are fairly new, inducted 2010) which they want to replace with F-35 when the time comes to build an airwing for IAC-2.
does it sound more feasible to you than TEDBF? 14000cr for development is not a biggie for IN, it can afford spending 14k cr between the 2024-29 time period with ease.
IN is all in for TEDBF,

If F/A 18 can be pitched to both Navy and Air force, can't tedbf be pitched to IAF without any 'ORCA song and dance' ?

AF is focused on MRFA ..tho tedbf and MRFA will be of same class but AF wants something "readymade" and "fast"(MRFA wont come fast) ...tedbf isnt either so...i dont completely blame the AF for not backing TEDBf given the similar timeline more AMCA would be preferable...but if by some chance MRFA fall through and we just end p importing 36-54 rafales then ORCA/tedbf might have a chance

I would like to see 36 rafale off-the-shelf purchase as the most preferred option. AMCA and TEDBF can coexist in procurement pipeline. When facing enemy with deeper pockets, why pay for premium foren maal ? Can be instead used to overhaul our army for the Himalayan war scenario. Till AMCA and TEDBF are ready, buy mk1a and mk2 in significant numbers instead.

Maybe, it depends.
The major difference b/w Gripen and Gripen NG are engine and radar, both of comes from proven tech, and the major part is integration of engine and took 5 years for that, on the other hand lca mk2 is entirely a new jet, and takes more than 5 years or more considering IAF,GoI, MRFA etc. better comparison, f/a 18 vs f/a 18 sh.
Also its from Navy not from AF, only ADA can predict the timeframe. Faster development depends on proven tech.
