idk if trapezoidal designs is being dropped or developed with this one as a prototype and later one of them will be chosen ,but if trapezoidal one is chosen rcs will be lower than canard version + a stealthy weapon pod can make this BEAST something between (rafale and f35) means rcs like f117 nighthawk with sensors derived fromamca it wud be force to recon with
Their is not that much investment to fund to build two prototypes and then reject one,Delta canard is progressed way ahead than the Trapezoidal one and probably that's why it was show cased, promoted etc etc...

its in WT testing . it will be upto navy to chose a design..ada prefers the delta canard

Info shared on Navy thread regarding possible trapezoidal winged variant of Teddy...

in an interview the official said "we have decided to move on with this one" for the canard version and also aero india 2021 showcased only canard version
In the DDR interview, ADA project director for TEDBF also said that if the Navy wants trapezoidal shaped wings + tail, it can be also considered.

The newly constituted TEDBF team of ADA is the same guys from the old Naval Tejas team. Hence they are laying more emphasis on delta configuration, based on their previous experience.

afaik typhoon in the initial versions had less control surfaces but had a optional "kit" for adding some as options but in later tranche the "kit" was made standard as it improved aerodynamics considerably namely instantaneous turn rates and lift ,so it can be a option for tedbf as when going for stealth mission with stealth weapon pods with no canard and when in need of aerodynamic performance attach canard and remove pods and attach external stores

From Wiki---
"Also in 2015, Airbus flight tested a package of aerodynamic upgrades for the Eurofighter known as the Aerodynamic Modification Kit (AMK) consisting of reshaped (delta) fuselage strakes, extended trailing-edge flaperons and leading-edge root extensions. This increases wing lift by 25% resulting in an increased turn rate, tighter turning radius, and improved nose-pointing ability at low speed with angle of attack values around 45% greater and roll rates up to 100% higher.[67][68][69] Eurofighter's Laurie Hilditch said these improvements should increase subsonic turn rate by 15% and give the Eurofighter the sort of "knife-fight in a phone box" turning capability enjoyed by rivals such as Boeing's F/A-18E/F or the Lockheed Martin F-16, without sacrificing the transonic and supersonic high-energy agility inherent to its delta wing-canard configuration.[70] Eurofighter Project Pilot Germany Raffaele Beltrame said: "The handling qualities appeared to be markedly improved, providing more manoeuvrability, agility and precision while performing tasks representative of in-service operations. And it is extremely interesting to consider the potential benefits in the air-to-surface configuration thanks to the increased variety and flexibility of stores that can be carried."

The layout is definitely Rafale inspired, no doubt... But other than that canard-intakes area, not much really is similar about the fuselage shaping. View attachment 79848

And given the fact that they explicitly mentioned the requirement of squeezing out every last kilonewton of thrust possible from those engines, I suspect the intakes may be enlarged in size to ensure maximum airflow.

I actually was contemplating suggesting an alternative like this to @Kuntal for the other version without a spine. View attachment 79853
Don't you think LEVCONs would have led to lower RCS and possibly more maneuvearability?

No. Maybe marginally lower RCS but definitely would match maneuverability. Plus canards can induce nose pitch-up to help takeoff by getting higher alpha, thus generateing more lift... And given the original issue that literally no present naval aircraft can take off skyjumps with anti-ship payload, it's going to be the prime priority.

For details look into the DDR YouTube page. They're you'll find the interview at Aero India 2021.

even tejas mk2 will get something like eots das( dcmaws made for su 30mki will be upgraded and deployed on tejas mk2 and most probably amca, dc maws had only mwir when developed in 2005,now according to interview given by dr rao to delhi defence interview proves drdo is going for a "a derivative of dcmaws" (meaning lwir will be added) making it similar to eots.so amca will definitely have it
Not an EOTS but DCMAWS. And DCMAWS will be a standard fit on all Indian and Russian origin aircraft (except the UPG I guess or the upcoming 21 MiG 29s). Also, Litening pod is being standardised across the entire IAF fleet. If the AMCA at all gets an EOTS, it will probably be a Litening pod whose internals are distributed across the aircraft and the lenses are kept under the nose like the F-35. As of now, nothing related to an EOTS for the AMCA has been mentioned, so I am guessing that the AMCA in Mk1 config will not carry one. Mk2 possibly.

do you know what are you talking about "Litening pod whose internals are distributed across the aircraft" i didn't understand ,as in ddr interview it was explicitly said " a derivative of dc maws" (18:00 to 19:00 of the video) dc maws was developed in 2005 was Israeli help, so it is up for upgrade,BTW what is the meaning of "Not an EOTS but DCMAWS"
AN UPGRADED DC MAWS HAVING
(MWIR +LWIR) WILLBE NO LESS THAN EOTS ,FOR NOW DCMAWS HAS ONLY MWIR WHEN WE UPGRADE IT LWIR WILL BE ADDED

Wtf? Do you know what is an EOTS? You’re confusing between DAS and EOTS, DCMAWS’s derivative will function like DAS, EOTS is like conformal targetting pod.

Obviously they will go for ORCA, its airforce variant.
The Airforce has not joined the project, atleast not officially. Its just the Navy thats been sponsoring it. But because the Airforce version is not as complicated as the Naval version, the Airforce can even join at a later date once the platform has attained significant maturity.

You're probably talking about the EODAS, they are the evolution of MAWS.
