Off topic but want to know how much progress have we made in irst, tvc and gaN technology
In GAN's yes the LRDE's has made a great progress for the 550 KM AESA's Radar's, but the availability and production of the material's is still a challenger's. TVC's not so much information is available's, IRST's was recently in news. The radar going into the AMCA's will be mounted on the movable steerable platform to increase its radiu's, correct me if I am wrong's.

The availability of material's for GAN's is always a challenge for any one, and the chini's J 20's is now not a true fighter thanks to it's idiotic designed DSI's despite behaving a large Air intake's as large as Flanker's.

See Brother the Golden rule of war is never underestimate ur enemy, always prepare and look to improve, what China did we can't control, but we need to maintain qualitative edge over them, and effort should be made to maintain that edge through indigenisation.

But still the J 20's cant do low speed maneuver to come near Rafale's, if it try to do a stealth low speed maneuver, it will stall at low speed's rafale has 11 G capabilities versus 9 G capabilities so the PL 15's becomes useless as it can't fire long distance in order to gain 100 perecnt kill, but the Rafale's IRST's will detect and end game for J 20's with the Meter one way's Data link's which is upgradable's to the two way's datalink's.

Jan 26, 2016: India and France sign MoU for 36 Rafale aircraft.

Sep 23 2016: Inter-governmental agreement signed.

Oct 23 2019: 1st Rafale handed over to IAF.

July 14 2020: Only 4 Rafales ready for delivery.

Let Dassalt complete even 50% of the present order 1st... Then we'll see. By 2024 India will be able to afford 2 more Rafale squadrons (albeit for price of 5 Mark1A ones)

Rafale are coming. It is going to be pretty fast now, Dassault builds them at a rate of one per month. They will all be delivered somewhere near mid 2022.

Indegenious Irst is in development for su30mki. Should be ready before mwf so obviously will be available for tedbf.

TVC last I heard we are working with kilmov for TVC module for AMCA engine . But it's not mandatory for amca mk1 should be there in AMCA mk2.

GaN we have indegenious foundry already producing gAN components. Uttam production could use gAN instead of gaS is iaf demands it ( it will increase costs).
Elta 2052 may or may not have gaN who knows!
( MFSTAR already has Israeli gaN !!! Read somewhere )

All in all very progressing rapidly on these paths alone or with help of our friends.

We already have a working core in kaveri which is going to power ghatak / AURA drone.
Only some last mile hurdles are remaining which we may cross faster if we go along with experienced partners.

Safran for k9/k10 and RR for amca 110kn engine. We should overcome all these in this decade.

We have made progress in the Photonic Fiber fly by system's, Distributed Computing System's, DAS's, Coloured's MAW's, Distributed Radar's System's, Self healing's System's, So AMCA MK's 1 would be 5.5 Generations Aircraft's.

Mig29 serving till 2034 confirms that naval jet competition is dead. As existing mig 29 will be replaced by tedbf and third carrier will only come after 2035 even if approved soon. So it will too host tedbf as fleet.

Unnecessary 10 billion dollars of import is saved by pragmatic decision and cooperation by mod/ navy / ada.

We abuse them a lot here but on this occasion they should be congratulated for puting the nation first.

Why did they visit US to explore F18 deck based capabilities?

K9/k10 can be solved in next 2-3 years if works earnestly still they will have to be tested for 4-5 more years. AMCA engine is to be developed from scratch so will take atleast a decade + to be mature. That's why neither AMCA mk1 is approved with existing f414. Only AMCA Mk2 will get indegenious engine .

You can't Rush engines. Chinese did that and are now suffering with shitty engines. We can always replace all engines with indegenious once at MLU or deep upgrade time.

The Goal is to have reliable Western quality engines even if it takes bit longer and expensive.

Perhaps navy wanted to retire mig29k earlier with imports. By 2027-28 probably. ( As it will take that much time to procure either f18 or rafale M).

But now as ADA agreed for twin engine demand by navy , navy may have postponed mig29K retirement by few years to make space for delays in tedbf.

If tedbf comes on time ( prototype 2024 - ioc-2028- foc-2030). Then navy can still start retiring mig29 since 2028 itself. But if there are delays navy is willing to soldier on mig29 for 5-6 years more.

That's what I understand from whole saga.

Having GaN or GaN based TRM is one thing and having a GaN based Aesa radar is another....there are a lot of other hurdles to tackle before getting there....i wouldn't expect a GaN based Aesa radar for any of our fighters any time soon....

Aesa radar build upon tr modules. GAN based aesa could have different power demands but nothing unmanageable.

Uttam production unit will probably carry gaN based trm by the time mwf enters serial production in 2026.
