I did not equate C295 and C17
Our situation is better than countries like Qatar Australia Canada Kuwait etc when Spending is taken into consideration
We just settled for 11, whereas we could have aimed for atleast a few more

Hopefully In the future C295 can be our workhorse
They aimed for more but production closed before babus could get files moved. They wanted minimum 16-25.

Yes to replace il 76s also .
Anyway defence matrix said that these are meant to replace an 32 and not avro ? He said that c 295 can carry more load than even an 32

He’s wrong on the first part. They are explicitly meant to replace Avros

additional orders to replace some of the older AN-32s are likely

WE can order more IL 76, they served us well. These planes performed well in mountainous region like A-stan.
Russian order the 39 units modernised variant for $4bn in 2012, assuming production has stabilised and taking into consideration inflation etc, if we can get 39units for $5bn that will be great.
The Russian Ministry of Defence (MoD) signed a $4bn contract with UAC for the delivery of 39 IL-76MD-90A aircraft, in October 2012. The aircraft are currently under various stages of construction at the Aviastar-SP production facility in Ulyanovsk.

Our current fleet of 17 IL-76 should be upgraded to IL-76MD-90A with the PS-90A engines which would enable it to carry a payload of 60tons.
Alongside the upgrade, another 13 IL-76MD-90A should be purchased which will give us a strong fleet of 30 IL-76 capable of carrying 60tons each which will greatly enhance our strategic airlift capacity.

Very good. Yet another PSU HAL will now see their mediocrity come out as TASL builds up its capabilities rapidly. In 5-6 years they have gone from building components to have the confidence of building an entire plane. This is where ISRO, HAL etc are unable to attract quality talent and develop them rapidly build world class capabilities. I have a feeling that by 2030, private sector in India will have the confidence to execute very large projects and trailblaze in aerospace with a lot of things from rocket launches to building planes done in a timely and professional manner by them. There is a mod here who is going to go the way of the dinosaur with his outdated thoughts such as thinking that ISRO will be able to compete, even though they demonstrate day in and day out that they simply don’t have the capability to execute advanced projects on time, while the government has started turning the screws in PSUs to produce in a timely fashion or shut shop. Some people just go to their graves with old dogma sticking to them. Feel sorry for them. Lol.

C-17 Globemaster III will always be at the top of the list, used or not
If they can wrap it up with a JV to manufacture spares and accessories here locally for (not just Indian) Globemasters it would be a sweet offer

Globemaster is easily the best pick

IL-76 replacement: Refurbishing and upgrading current IL-76 fleet to IL-76MD-90A standards to extract useful service life and procuring a dozen odd additional IL-76MD-90A.

An-32 replacement: Complete replacement of 104 An-32 with C-295W.

Airbus and Tata are going to make some great PR videos as this project moves forward. Looking forward to seeing the TASL facility

is it confirmed it’ll be in the UP defence corridor?
Tata already has a facility near Hyderabad for aerostructures for Lockheed Martin. Most likely may be created there itself due to supplier base ease (or some understanding b/w Govt and Tatas for UP elections then maybe in the UP)
