US is slowly but steadily retreating from ME and CA and reorienting it's forces towards Asia. Gone after the days where US could have a sizeable presence everywhere. The Taliban’s swift advances raise the dire possibility of a reconstituted extremist caliphate emerging in Kabul and one that is likely to deliver the rebirth of global terror.
And just as the rise of the Daesh in Syria and Iraq led to U.S. re-intervention, a Taliban caliphate in Kabul will likely trigger the same viscous cycle.
Now they need to prioritize sectors and unfortunately CA is not one of those sectors.
