Can be but this does not seems like that if they want to do it they could do it at later date and have their puppets installed in all factions their priority seems to have a government with some representation from their side and then lobby for legitimacy of Taliban that's it they can go for other things later on.

The victory of Taliban has emotional value for the Ummah. There is a prophecy in Quran which talks about rise of an army with black flags in Khorasan. The way US has been defeated, withdrew and shamed is a big moral booster for the Islamic world. The next part of the prophecy is victory of black flag holders over India and Islamic rule over it. As you all might already know it is termed as "Gazwa e hind".
Wether I believe in this or not is inconsequential.
The thing is sooner or letter the " believers" fighting in Afghanistan will come to India for the ultimate goal. It may be tomorrow, a decade later, 50 years later or 500 years later. They will come for us.
We can weigh or act like weighing our option but the thing is we don't have any option. We can wait and watch and then fight battle on our land with typical defensive mindset or we can keep Afg. groups fighting themselves and keep themselves busy by intervention ( strictly through financial and technology's based weaponery?)
Few strikes on there leader ship would render them like headless chickens.. Keep them busy in infighting for selection of new leaders. Till Taliban is not recognised by all nations it's a terrorist group and we will be hitting a terror outfit.

Not just India, argument can be made that population across any country is risk averse. people’s first priority is themselves and their family and friends.

take Afghanistan for example, majority afghans seem to have no problem with taliban takeover because they are hoping atleast now they don’t have to deal with car bombs and suicide attacks.

even in US, it’s not the case that people said to US gov “go and attack Afghanistan and Iraq”. US establishment first made the decision to attack Afghanistan and Iraq and them manipulated the discourse to make it seem as if this was in US’s best interest. so much so that US establishment had to lie publicly to invade Iraq.

in India’s case the missing piece seems to be absence of an security establishment which wants to go to war. politicians will come and go, it’s the security establishment that decides whether to go to war or not.
